I agree, not enough to buy a surface but If I needed one I would get one.I would love a mouse (bluetooth, USB, I don't give a crap) on the iPad, so when I get an after hours call, I can just carry a small messenger bag and an iPad, instead of my damn laptop everywhere.
I ended up fixing the problem by getting a Surface, which is actually a real computer. I love MacOS and iOS, but some of this stuff is getting really tiresome from an actual productivity standpoint.
Exactly why I don’t use an external keyboard with my 12.9” pro. The minute I put my hands on one my thumbs go looking for a trackpad. Speaking of, if they’re going to allow mouse support I wonder if that would extend to physical keyboard trackpads too?Once Apple started providing the external keyboard for iPads it's bizarre to not also provide mouse support.
I've never wanted to plug a mouse into my iPad. I HAVE, however, wanted to plug USB storage into my iPad and iPhone.
I'd love to be able to plug in a thumbdrive and see it pop up in the Files app. I'm sure a lot of us feel the same way, and hope Apple finally adds this capability in iOS 13.
USB mouse support would be a little odd... why no bluetooth mouse support in this day and age?
or Surface ProKeyboard, Mouse, Multitasking... Basically iPad is becoming a MacBook.
This is a very typical Macrumors post. This has not been announced by Apple, we have no clue whether or not Bluetooth devices are also supported, and Tim Cook likely has absolutely nothing to do with this decision.Silly not to allow bluetooth. This could really impact MS Surface sales if true.
I love how every time apple is asked they say no they're not planning on making iPad more like Mac, or Mac more like iPad - then they do everything that points to that direction. The problem is I think they're doing it in a half assed way, which will keep people on their full functioning computers for a lot longer than would otherwise be the case.
Maybe that's the idea. Keep making mac like iOS, and keep slowly adding mac/computer features to iPad. I really don't understand why they can't add more tablet/power features to the iPad. I understand the sentiment behind wanting to keep it a consumption device/limiting it, for the sake of preventing confusion - but then when they slowly tickle in more power features I just don't think it really works. People make an immediate impression upon what they can do with a device within the first few days of use, it's not like trickling in a few features over the years will get people to stop using their laptop and switch to an iPad.
