Affected users may be unable to access their iCloud inbox, send or receive emails, or complete other tasks through the Mail app across Apple devices and the web.

Update: Apple's system status page says the issue has been resolved.

Not sure if it is even related but I have a company provided iPhone that when I unlocked it this morning all my contacts were gone. Unchecking icloud back-up and re-checking it, powering down etc didn't fix it. Nothing changed over the weekend. Just odd I see this and have this issue.

Yes...and unfortunately I am one of the "some" users. So I can confirm the issue. Reboots etc. did not fix it. I could log into iCloud online and still use Apple Mail however.

I'm also having trouble signing in to Messages. Getting Cannot contact Apple ID Server. Was happening on my phone and Mac both. After several tries I got the phone to connect.

When I checked Apple’s own site to see what the system status was, it showed everything working, when of course my iCloud email was not working. Thankfully I don’t rely exclusively on any one email provider…

GoDaddy is outsourcing my web domain email account to Microsoft 365 in a couple of weeks. Just as well I guess because GoDaddy has often had down time on its mail servers in the past. But my free service will now cost me a monthly fee. So I briefly considered trying to use Apple iCloud Mail for my domain email, but soon found a lot of complaints about outages from all over the internet. And not just today. Seems like users have been experiencing outages a lot over the past. So I'll pass at that idea. I only have personal email, but still, when I need it I need it then, not hours or days later when the servers come back online...

Unless you have an uptime contract that specifies certain reliability figures, you’re going to find that most providers, especially in the free space, have their own reliability issues. Microsoft 365 might actually have uptime contracts with GoDaddy, so you might be looking for uptime in all the wrong places, looking for uptime in too many free services.

Yep, not working. iPhone says "Account Error - No Password provided for iCloud"

Toronto Canada.

Gave up on iCloud mail a long time ago. It sucks.
