In the iOS 26 release notes, Apple is warning iPhone users that installing the new software might have a temporary impact on battery life, which is normal.

100% this is a document to say we know it is broken, we are not going to fix it, and yes it it is the liquid glass you did not ask for.

Downgrading will literally be changing your to a Major OS, causing more battery usage and heat due to indexing, downloading new assets, and all the things they mention in the announcement. So you are going to have twice the battery loss. Good job on reading and understanding what they said.

I was surprised that they didn’t explain how to better mitigate against the effects. Should we be letting our devices plugged in for a day so they settle? Is it better for the battery to feel that hit and it should remain unplugged?
