The 15 Pro has a bad thermal design and is also so titanium so it doesn't dissipate heat well like aluminum does.

I have the 15 Pro myself and just dumped it for the base 17. It has such horrible thermals. The most disappointing iPhone I've ever had.
If thermals are your concern why not get one of the 17 pro phones instead of the 17 since it has an actual dedicated cooling system and aluminum unibody

So before it was Frosty Glass OS and now it is Liquid Glass OS////

Also your iPhone is hot cuz climate change and we did it on purpose, cuz how dare you to use iPhone 11, 12, 13 …. WE will heat your hands so hard 🫠

$300 cheaper for the 17 with minimal things I care about in the 17 Pro, plus lighter and thinner. I’m waiting it out anyways for the 18 or Fold or something that actually looks new, just had to dump the 15 Pro. (Air has too many compromises for me and again $200 more).

Performance of the springboard on my 13 mini is immediately pretty rough. Laggy and it’s having to load icons(!) as it swipes between pages. This could very well be impacted by the background activities as the phone updates though, so I'll let it percolate for a few days.

I think I'll immediately be turning on 'reduce motion' in the accessibility settings though.

"New features are exciting and help you get even more out of your Apple product, though some may require additional resources from the device."

Wait. There are new features?

No

its just the normality, after an update the system has to do some work.
tell my RC iPhone for over a week that, it is having none of your apple apologies. The thing is hot like an oven and battery life in safari you can watch it tick down in minutes. So no it is something very wrong with this os. They are saying it in part 2 a battery life loss will occur, they are just not defining what the amount of loss will be.

But the Air does have the 12gb of ram over the base 17’s 8gb for better future proofing, and the air has the A19 pro and the updated C1X in-house modem for better efficiency. Lastly the air is lighter and is 5.6mm thin compared to the 17’s 7.9mm

how many days per week do you go to concerts?
Concerts are but one example but 1/week is average. Just this past week, I caught two: Karly Denson's Tiny Universe (Sun) and Thee Oh Sees (Wed). I wish Denver didn't have such an incredible, diverse and active live music scene. Being an active musician prob doesn't help either - it's kinda in my blood. 😜

And has only one speaker, one camera, no mmWave 5G, worse battery life, worse charging speed, and again costs $200 more.

I'm well aware of the differences between each model. I'm not trying to convince you of anything either. My only point was about poor thermals in the 15 Pro and 16 Pro, so this is off topic now. Get whatever phone you want!

If you refere to “Depending on individual usage, some users may notice a small impact on performance and/or battery life.“

I guess it’s 100% normal, depending on usage, hence if you use the new features and such..it might happen…

I’ts a NSS thing.

As for rc, they updated it as it was still in beta, candidate does not mean final.

I’m trying to find out why people care about this mono iPhone air speaker, like stereo or not, the speaker always sucks

Look this release is awful the same usage pattern the same apps the same phone I am 30% worse on battery even after the mighty indexing shuffle. So I am just gonna downgrade, and cancel my new iPhone 17 pro orders and walk away. Apple really whiffed it this time

You are free to pick the best device for you, Personally i switched to Pixel last year and not looking back for now, i have an iPad Pro m4 and running iPad OS 26 since the first dev beta, and pretty happy.

For me the cons outweigh the pros of the air, especially compared to the best base model iPhone they've ever made for $200 cheaper (and $300 cheaper than the Pro). It's not about just one feature; it's an overall summary. I have no doubt a future Air 2 or Air 3 will be a solid product that I may buy. I don't want to be the guinea pig on this first model Air, especially if the battery life is as awful as speculations say.

But if you buy one of their shiny new phones, battery life will be back to normal. I would argue that the efficiency of their code has declined over the years which in turn result in poorer battery performance. Plus our batteries are getting older and can't hold that same charge as before.

Our iPhones are 10x slower with iOS26 now. Never had a slower device.
How do you measure that, seriously? I mean even 2x slower would make it almost unusable. But 10x? Looks like a made up number.

Every iOS update, people crawl out of some rathole and complain about the battery dip due to reindexing so it’s unfortunately news for some.
After a few weeks can we say indexing is done? And what if it's still eating up the battery much faster than before?

Should I just update my iPhone with iOS26 or do an “Erase all content and settings” and then install a major update?

Unless I upgrade to a 17PM, I’ll keep my 14PM running 18.7 until the dust and whining settles down. No way in hell I want to go back to hunting around for a charge cable on a building site by the afternoon!
