Still lacking basics like selectively placing icons anywhere on home screen for accessibility let alone split screen multitasking, pen input, desktop PC mode with with monitor/keyboard/mouse, etc.
Hahahahahaha also no command prompt.

I think it is pretty amazing how well iOS 14 works on my 6S Plus being that it is going to be 6 years old. That is ancient by technology standards.
We have three 6s Pluses in our household which are used very actively, on a daily basis. We use them like iPods (they are no longer on cellular plans) for heavy media consumption, gaming, etc. They are all on the latest update. Zero problems whatsoever. I am similarly amazed!

On the iPad you just get a blown up home screen and not a proper desktop screen like on laptop when connecting external display. If it wasn't for progressive people pushing for progress we'd still be stuck on 3.5" because Apple would have zero reason to do that.

Yea, you know, screw Apple. Before they came around we were living in a utopia of scroll wheels, postage stamp sized screens, and physical key keyboards. I remember those fantastic Windows Mobile devices, like the Motorola Q. And it was just $99!

Then Apple had to come around with their iPhone at $599. That obscenely large 3.5" screen made it a horrendous business device because it didn't have a keyboard. But everyone lost their freakin mind because Apple. I mean, Apple killed serial ports for USB (barf). Killed the floppy disk drive for CD-ROMs (thanks *a lot*), then they forced individual downloadable music tracks on us (instead of having to buy a whole physical CD), refused to embrace Blu-Ray after FORCING cd-rom on us, and the list just goes on and on.

I remember the good old days. Get off my lawn, hippies!

Actually, unix terminal with installable packages (like Homebrew) on phone is handy when laptop isn't available.

iOS 14 was by far the worst software upgrade I've ever experience with an Apple device, hands down. Ruined my iPhone 7.

Going forward, I'm never going to upgrade an iOS device more than 2 versions from what was pre-installed.

iPhone 7 release date = September 2016.

Current date: March 2021.

Gee, I wonder what could possibly be the issue.

That’s great news. I remember a ton of people had it installed since the betas since those were pretty stable this time around. People badly wanted widgets it seems!

as I said for Mr. Dee try to do a full install by connecting to Mac then update that will eliminate bugs

Or in other words; one fifth of people with an iPhone capable of running ios14 have avoided installing it for at least 5 ’major’ versions (being that the current is 14.4).
That isn’t a lot in the mobile software world. Take a look at Android.

I have an iPhone 11 and I’m on iOS13. I don’t see myself updating anytime soon. I very rarely update iOS, always been like that, works extremely well.

8%er checking in. iPhone SE running iOS 12.1. Would love to upgrade to the latest iOS 12 for security reasons, but that’s not an option, so I’m stuck. No plans to move to iOS 14 as I’ve heard enough horror stories from people with original SEs doing so. I’m perfectly happy with the reliability, speed, functionality, stability, and battery life of my phone just as it is, so why ruin that?

I’ll upgrade if Verizon ever offers an actually reasonable deal on a 12 Mini without requiring a new line no one *#^^*%$ wants.

I got the first generation SE with 128GB (2018). iOS14.4 is mostly quick and smooth for me. No horror stories here, only some annoyances.

The last few months it did have some issues, but that turned out to be the battery not being in top condition anymore. Battery power management mode was triggered multiple times by a sudden shutdown in the last 6 months. This even caused some applications, including the music app, to stutter at random moments.

This week my SE was scheduled (via the support app) for a battery replacement at the Apple Store and this did fix the performance issues. For example, I have several email accounts active and with iOS13.4 and iOS14 I usually got blanc email listings directly after starting the email app. The list slowly was rebuild on screen during 20-40 seconds eventually, but very annoying when quickly checking or searching some message. Sometimes ticking one message opened different message too. The CPU (and GPU?) was clearly throttled down to get more time out of the battery.

Now after 2 days, with the fresh battery my SE is clearly faster and updating much more instant just like when it was new. For me it showed clearly the activated power management routines inside iOS when the battery has deteriorated. My wife's iPhone 6S (2017) had similar problems and after the battery got replaced everything worked smoothly again.

The only issue that persists, albeit not that often anymore, is the touch screen becoming unresponsive at random moments while your navigating or typing. A quick lock and unlock is the only workaround. Probably a software bug that still needs fixing (iOS13-14), since I've seen more people having the same problem on different iPhone models/generations.

Postive side note: The battery replacement was very quick at the official Apple Store, less than 45 minutes including al the paperwork. Money well spent, since an iPhone 12 mini is at least 15 times more expensive. Thanks Apple!
