An update is needed for a rainbow colored wallpaper? 🤦🏻‍♂️ There are two explanations:

1. iOS is so badly designed it needs an update for a new wallpaper
2. They didn’t have any new feature to show, so they decided to include a wallpaper as a “feature”

In both cases it means Apple are fubar.

18.5 latest beta, bah humBUG. Compass is still 90 degrees off (again until reboot) all the time. Esims playing up, not working at all for the first 30-40mins and countless reboots after being in airplane mode for some time. Spontanious resprings of the UI. Settings app CTDs. Im not really happy :)

What Apple calls beta is actually marketing research for the company. Otherwise, the time frame wouldn't be so short. Today it's alpha, next week it's beta, the following week RC, and then it's released the day after. Then they pull it back or wait to see what users complain about most. And then Apple feels like fixing the bugs.
But not during the "development" phase. That's when the company has to read the news sites.

The current 18.5 beta is running well on my 15PM, very good battery life. RC likely incoming very soon.

Yes, 18.5 has very few changes/improvements, and they are very minor. But that's been true of most X.5 iOS versions in the past. 18.5 has fixed some bugs that have plagued many Macrumors forum members.

I'm not saying you shouldn't be disappointed in iOS 18; it has clearly underdelivered on what we were promised last June, or even last September.

Also, for years many of us have been hoping that the next major iOS version would focus more on stability than major new features. We haven't gotten that, and looks like we won't with iOS 19 with its major interface revision. Maybe Apple has lowered its standards for what it considers acceptable stability.

I've liked most of the previous Pride watch bands & wallpapers. These ones look good, too.

But you will still complain about the next CEO 🤷‍♂️

If they are actually competent at their position, I wouldn’t complain at all. Considering how many here feel the same about Tim, I wouldn’t call it an isolated case.

Apple should separate the OS update from the system apps updates. Update the OS to get new wallpaper? Unless Mail requires some API in latest iOS to function, why shouldn't it be available to iOS 17 users?🤔 I'm betting a lot of people with older phones would prefer to stay on the older OS (no throttling, no battery drain) if they can get still the latest iMessage/Mail/Photo on their phone.

I've been waiting for the macOS 15.5 update before I upgrade from Sonoma, so maybe soon I will finally update. :p

I was going to update my Mac alongside my new iPhone and needing to update my Apple Watch, but I just haven't gotten around to it, so I guess I'll wait for 15.5 to update them all again. :p

edit / update - can we get the ability to freeze an app in the menu that is displayed when long pressing an app on the home screen? the app icon could be greyed out, and when tapped, it could just say something like "app is frozen until the end of the day", with a button to unfreeze it manually at any time. freezing it could stop all notifications, but go further and actually completely shut down the app completely (no background processes or location tracking etc). if they want to bury the option to see this menu option, I could understand that as well, since it may be more of a fringe desire. but yeah, even if they had a option in settings and accessibility or something like that for "freeze app home screen shortcut", then, you could enable that ability on a per app basis, so for example, if there's one specific app you want that functionality for, it could do it just for that one or two apps, as opposed to all apps. thank you

Need more fixes for CarPlay ... and FaceTime to stop hanging up after ~30 secs each time I converse with a family member, between the US & EU. Call back, and it works fine.

Please give me the new option of setting preferred language in Apple Map app, which was previously reverted in 18.4. 🙁

As a member of the LGBTQIA+ community I'm very exited about the new pride wallpaper!!!

Actually, I couldn't care less!
They could offer a free chapstick instead!
