iMessage and FaceTime are acting up for some users, according to Apple's system status page.

General-Apps-Messages.jpg

Some users are "experiencing a problem" with iMessage and FaceTime, the page says. Apple says it is "investigating" and will provide a status update when possible.

The issues began shortly after 5 a.m. Pacific Time, according to Apple.

At this time, there does not appear to be a widespread iMessage or FaceTime outage. Instead, the services are experiencing "performance" issues, according to Apple. We'll update this story when Apple's system status page says the issues are resolved.

Update — 7:30 a.m. Pacific Time: Apple says the issues have been resolved.

The opposite of the usual. Working fine for me, but Apple's status page says there's a problem. I used to keep it bookmarked, but quit when I realized that they rarely update it properly.

Had issues last week where iMessages on my mac weren't updated for about a day. No mention on their page there was an issue, and this doesn't really even mention what the actual issue is either.

Right around the time this issue started, my phone decided to duplicate the messages between my wife and I so now I have two threads between us. One of them are SMS messages and the other is RCS messages.

This **** is getting REALLY old...

Do we not believe the users are "experience a problem" or that Apple is "investigating"???

It's probably not related but I cannot keep my phone working with RCS. It will work for a while and then revert to SMS until I reset the network on my phone.

Like clockwork. Key Apple apps predictably have issues every major release. Never install the iOS X.0.x release if you don't want headaches. Always wait for X.1.x that follows soon after.

The number of iMessage users worldwide is estimated to be somewhere north of 1 BILLION. Just using a round one billion, if 1% of users have trouble, that's 10 million people that can't communicate reliably.

I had big issues with Messages, FaceTime, and setting up FaceID (still not resolved). For the Messages/FaceTime bugs, Kept getting the same error message others report here. I won’t go into the other problems that crept in to what in the past has been a smooth IOS transition. The resolution for me was a switch of networks. I live in a rural area. I have a 4G router for data purposes that feeds off a nearby cell tower. Techically, it’s considered WiFi. However, because of its cell tower reliance, it’s possibly mobile. Whether it’s updates, or connecting to networks, Apple‘s algorhythms fail to recognize the 4G Router as a legitimate data point. Hence, the hang. When I switched over to my mobile carrier (I’m currently in South Africa), iMessage and FaceTime came on line. I hope Apple fixes this once and for all.

I was getting issues on day one with iMessage. I would hold down on a message to forward, it would show the tapback icons, but when I scrolled down, the options menu and tap back would repeatedly vanish. It's fixed now though.

Anyone having issues with iMessage notifications not showing on the lock screen? I do not have phone screen set to always on, and before the new phone (iPhone 16 Pro Max 256GB) iMessage notifications would wake up the phone and show on the lock screen.

Messages on my M1 Pro MBP (on which I use a VPN) no longer syncs w/ iOS Messages since I moved to Sequoia and iOS 18. PITA, to say the least. I log out w/ VPN turned off, log back in , still no syncing. Messages on my MBP still only shows iMessages and SMS texts sent/received prior to upgrading to both iOS 18 and Sequoia.

Most of the time I get messages on my iPhone and Mac at nearly the exact same time. But sometimes, a message will show up on my iPhone but will take up to a minute to show up on my Mac. It's weird.

I reset all settings: NoGo. I turn off Bluetooth so the notifications don’t go to my Apple Watch, and I start getting notifications on phone Lock Screen. Suggestions so I can leave Bluetooth on?

I've been experiencing issues for about 3-4 months now. iMessage stops working whenever it feels like it, and everything goes out as SMS. It's only with family members, too.
