Just a week after the last seed, Apple has delivered another new version of Mac OS X 10.6.4, designated Build 10F58, to developers. The build is the fifth to be seeded to developers since late April.

Like the last build, Apple lists no known issues with the new version and asks developers to focus their testing on Graphics Drivers, SMB, USB, Voice Over, and VPN. Those familiar with the new build note that Apple has not documented in the seed notes any additional changes since the previous build.

It is unknown when we can expect a public release of Mac OS X 10.6.4, as Apple's development schedule is unpredictable, although the fact that the new build offers no major documented changes and again contains no known issues suggests that Apple may be wrapping up work on the fourth maintenance update for Mac OS X Snow Leopard.

I'm confused. Does this mean that there is no change between these betas? Why did they seed a new one then?
There are changes between the betas, it's just that they don't add up to a sizable increase in the total amount of code.

Why? Only Apple knows for sure, since they didn't bother to give details. Perhaps stability and performance improvements.

No notes on the build doesn't mean no changes, it just means the changes were likely very minor bug fixes and tweaks. The article made that clear in thought...

Releasing this in conjunction with WWDC is pure coincidence. There is no marketing/publicity benifit in a .x release... In fact it just detract from iOS 4 and possibly a 10.7 preview. I would expect little to any offical talk about 10.6.4 at WWDC

It would be nice if these articles still listed the reported changes from .3 to .4

Correct. There's a custodial team working on 10.6.x. Another team would be implementing new functionality in 10.7.

If there's any connection between 10.6.4 and WWDC, it would be support of new hardware (e.g., Mac mini, MacBook Air, maybe Mac Pro).

10.6.4 had better fix the freezing issue in MacBook Pro's!!!!!!!! I hate Apple for that!!!!!!!!!!:mad::mad::mad::mad:

INstead of acting like a child, why don't you go into detail; what model of MacBook Pro are you having problems with? a complete freeze or just on certain applications? have you run a memtest86 on the computer to see whether there are issues with the memory?

Freezing and whining means nothing if you provide no information to those of us on this forum who might wish to help you diagnose the problem. Through the lack of details one can't help but come to the conclusion that you're a troll looking for attention.

Getting the OS ready for Safari 5.0 beta, you think?

Yep, along with possible MobileMe client updates and maybe iTunes X as well (not that they'll be in 10.6.4 but the frameworks that they might use will be updated in there).

10.6.4 seems to be completely done as there hasn't been any known changes an issues, which could suggest that Apple is trying to make this a stable build before they add the updates that could ruin the WWDC surprises.

iTunes is always updated every September, so I doubt we'll see an update at WWDC.

Thus the word maybe. If not iTunes X, then 9.2 since iTunes need to be updated to support Folders and other features from iPhoneOS 4.0.

Unfortunately, everyone with a macbook pro knows what problem he is talking about; it doesn't really need more detail.

All I really wish is that Apple will fix the drivers for MacBooks with the x3100. I have graphics glitches all over the place. Does anyone else have this issue in 10.6.3?
