Great stats. Thanks for looking this up. I can understand why later in the OS life the time in between updates would be longer but from .2 to .3 you'd hope that it is shorter or at least that the .2 release is very stable. Whats strange about this one is how many betas and how long it's been listed as no known issues. These factors have made the time seem longer in my mind.

On a side note I just realized how much more posting I have been doing in these forums lately than usual. It is because I'm holding off on my work projects until 10.8.3 is released for a clean install from 10.7.5. I thought it would be released weeks ago so in preparation I moved everything over to an external HD - things are kind of in limbo for me. I hope it is ready soon.

I never usually anticipate for a Mac OS X update, but i need to do a clean install, and i refuse to do it now when the update can be released any time. I'd rather do it clean.

Downloading new one.

So I'm currently downloading 12D74, I'll let you guys know if there are any improvements in Macbook Pro Retina graphics (lag/choppiness) and general stability.

Anyone know if this has been fixed in 10.8.3? I had to revert back to 10.7 to get aggregate device ordering working properly.

Very frustrating.

They broke core audio aggregate device a release ago. Lots of pro audio folks in studio or live sound are effected by this. It really sucks. It's preventing me from using Logic right now. I really need an update that gets aggregate device working properly again.

The never-ending beta testing. My insider sources assured me that this week we should see the final release. Maybe it is the Golden Master.

12D74 review

I have not been using 12D74 for a long time but I thought I would post my initial impressions if anybody finds this info useful.

A) Though Windows 7 is supported via bootcamp, I currently see no evidence of windows 8 support, though I didn't pop in a W8 disc and try.

B) *this one likely only affects Retina users* There has clearly been an effort to increase the fluidity of the OS (animations, etc.) yet I notice mixed results on my mid-2012 2.3ghz retina MBP. Safari scrolling is better but still tends to lag a bit on pages like Facebook. The Dock magnification lag has been addressed, and and to my untrained eye it appears they may have implemented frame-skipping with the intel HD integrated card. The magnification is nearly perfect using the discrete Nvidia card. The genie effect (and other animations) are greatly improved. If you left magnification off, I would say the experience is much better than with 10.8.2

C) the messages app has been dramatically improved for bugs/stability. If you use multiple devices with the same imessage account, the experience is MUCH more fluid/organized/up-to-date. This seems to be a big difference from 12D65 (I never updated to 12D68).

If anybody has specific issues, I'd be happy to test them.
