Interesting, this is the first time I have had time machine tell me that I am backing up an encrypted drive to a non-encrypted drive.

Anybody else having black screen after reboot issues with this beta? Have even done a restore from scratch and updated to this beta and the same.

Works first boot after upgrading, but reboot the machine and all you get is a black screen after logon - not sure if it’s apfs or encryption, previous beta is fine

I don't think this is a widespread issue.

After reading your post and updating to beta 8, with trepidation I rebooted thinking that this may happen to me too. But it didn't. My computer is fine on this beta and doesn't reboot to black screen.

That's not to say however that it won't affect some other people too. It might.

So maybe you should send apple a bug report.

I am experiencing this as well. Persistence rules the day, but I'm leery of logging out.

No problem on my 2015 rMBP. First startup after install it defaulted to dark mode so I went in and selected light mode, rebooted and light mode was in effect. No blackscreen on reboot. This is on PB7

Still the same issues since beta 1. System Setting freezes and every time a modal window open (eg. at quicktime player to save something) it freezes too. Reported it to Apple since beta 2, but they just closed the issue as they couldn't find anything. Quite annoying issue. Oh and I always have to update via terminal, as the update via system settings freezes

I don't have a black screen but my computer would refuse to complete the boot cycle.

That sounds similar to the issue that I'm experiencing, 2 machines do it, both MacBook Pro Retina mind 2015, same specs
2.8 GHz Intel Core i7 - 16GB RAM.

Bug report has been opened, lets hope it's not a major issue.

I'm on the developer beta - may have some differences between the public and developer.

In other news, the other issue that I'm experiencing is with the notification system, and choppy core graphics from wake.

If I leave the lid open and go for lunch, the notification system will still display messages by waking up the screen and then turning it off once it's displayed the messages, this is the advanced notifications system I believe, anyway what I've noticed is that if this happened then the graphics will be extremely choppy and stuttering after waking up, sometimes closing the lid for 5 minutes and waking will resolve, as will a reboot - this has been going on since Beta 1.

Get loads of errors in the console when trying to display things such as the popup folder displays from the dock...

Only issue I’m having is that running the beta really messes up HomeKit on HomePod. The mismatch in operating systems seems to throw Siri off. Voice commands will suddenly stop working. Turn my Mac off and all instantly returns to normal.

Each Beta build, people keep asking the same question about Mojave, so I’m going to post my experience: Mojave has been the least stable Beta for me. Loud fans, overheating and quick battery drain on MBP 2017 13’. I had to completely roll back to High Sierra. Obviously, the experience will vary from person to person, but if there’s just the slightest possibility to perform bad, don’t install it on your daily drivers. Just wait, the release is maybe a month away from now. I usually wait 3-4 months after release before upgrading macOS, but if you can’t live without Dark Mode, go grab it as soon as the official release is available.

There is a new gatekeeper version 152 which came out the same time as Mojave beta 8.

Sometimes this installs automatically. But if it didn’t you can do it manually via the link here:

http://swcdn.apple.com/content/down...5ce2bki8ekevh6w20tu4/GatekeeperConfigData.pkg

You can check which version you currently have with this terminal command:

/usr/libexec/PlistBuddy -c "Print CFBundleShortVersionString" /private/var/db/gkopaque.bundle/Contents/Info.plist

By the way this applies to all systems from Mojave all the way back to Mountain Lion. So even if you are on a much older system you should nevertheless still have an up-to-date gatekeeper.

I have a Radeon 7950 which is supposed to be METAL compatible and works fine in High Sierra, but Mojave install is still a no-go.

Do I have to buy another graphics card? And if so, which one is guaranteed to work? I know RX580, but which brand?

All good things I am hearing in various threads! Looking forward to downloading it this fall. Dark Mode is going to be great for reading things at night.

This still isn't an upgrade to the os. Dark mode is a big so what.
The desktop organization already existed in one form or another in veery other os previous to this one.
Bringing iOS apps to the desktop sounds like more bloatware shoved into your hard drive (apple news, stocks).
I think I'll skip this for show only OS.
my system has detected a windows user disguised as a Mac user
the bloatware word comes from windows 10
it is a tablet or a pc
iOS and Mac OS are not merged
now seriously I respect your opinion , not everybody like the same thing
but I'm sure there are more people that likes Mac OS Mojave dark mode that the ones that don't like it
like you
is not a matter of taste like most people think, some people are just plain bitter and nothing is good for them
maybe you should try windows out, I heard Microsoft uses spyware technology which is awesome

companies don't make software for individuals, they make it for the majority of people
there is no way to completely satisfied a single user because he always going to find something that he doesn't like or he will like to change

the best we can do is configure the system the best we can the way we like it

let me ask you, there is anyway to remove windows 10 tablet components from windows 10 ???
so that way I only end up with a desktop OS and remove all the bloatwareo_O

:D

has anyone tried any wacom tablets or astropad with the latest beta? i'm waiting for pressure sensitivity to comeback before i try it again.

I'm sorry you are right, I called you a windows users and that is a hell of an insult
cmon man
you are attacking iOS and Mac OS on a Mac forum
what do you expect
and just in case I was being sarcastic because that is not an insult

the comment about bitter people wasn't directly to you
I didn't wrote "you are bitter"
I was generally speaking about some other people
but I guess you are really bitter and you included yourself there
not my problem
I don't have any inferiority complex
have a nice day
