No, it's only on the 18.1 Developer Beta.Im on the latest public beta in US, iphone 15 pro max, is apple intelligence not available for this?
Also note that current Apple Ai implementations is providing solutions addressing mundane tasks that are automated to elevate the burdensome aspects which should be very popular with consumers within their apps. It's not about making apps that essentially become like bots against creativity. Yesterday there was some investor negativity against too much AI was just bot stuff that would never see any ROI. (return on investment)No, it's only on the 18.1 Developer Beta.
Sure, you can use your iOS 18.0 backup with iOS 18.1. It would be more problematic the other way around, if you were trying to downgrade from 18.1 to 18.0 or 17, but going with the latest iOS 18.1 beta and restoring from an earlier iOS backup - no problem.
Alternatively, if you have a computer, you could also install (update to) iOS 18.1 beta on top of your current iOS 18.0 with an IPSW file. This way all your existing data will stay intact, so you won’t need to roll back and restore from a backup.
Unfortunately I’m having zero luck either downgrading it to the release version of iPadOS or going to the 18.1 beta using the IPSW files. I even busted out my copy of iMazing 2 from the mothballs (no thank you to their new per device licensing scheme where you have to pay again if you upgrade to a new device which I do just about every year between my iPhone and iPad).
I might spring for a license if iMazing 3 can handle it but only if it can and so far I’m not sure if it will.
To install IPSW files, you will first need to download and install the latest beta of X-code or just the MobileDevice.pkg file contained in it. You can get it from Apple developers portal. Once this is done, it should work.
Thank you for the info! I was going nuts knowing I was doing something wrong or misting a step but couldn’t figure out what. Installing the X Code beta makes sense but fortunately before I had to go there the option to go to 18.1 beta 3 finally showed up within the iPad and I was able to upgrade that way.
I was considering installing X Code to install the beta firmware for my AirPods Pro 2 to try out those new features but stopped short because I didn’t want to have to drive to the Apple Store if the beta bricked them but I’d have to do the same with the Vision Pro and that hasn’t stopped me from running and enjoying VisionOS 2.0 anyway so why stop there?
I’m not sure why the option to go to iOS 18.1 wasn’t there when I first restored the backup from my old iPad that was the 10th generation and couldn’t run iOS 18.1. I figured I was SOL until the next beta came out, but I looked again this evening before I tried the above and sure enough there it finally was and it upgraded without any issues.
Strange and I’ll use the feedback app to let Apple know, if they don’t already (and they probably do) but that’s what can happen when you run betas so it is what it is but thank you for your help!!!!! It is much appreciated and I’ll keep that Xcode knowledge in my back pocket if I ever have to load a beta from an IPSW file.
When you search Google for how to do it from a Mac instead of getting your good advice I get links to crappy apps that claim to be free but of course when you install them they want money. There was a time when you’d search Google for something and find the information you were looking for without the ads and crapware marketers push. Not anymore apparently so thank you for helping me or anyone else reading this who may need to do it but doesn’t know how that you can do it through the X Code beta.
I’ve been running public beta releases on my daily for years. That said, I usually hold off the beta updates until about a month or so before RC drops. Never had any issues that I couldn’t handle. They’re usually pretty stable at that point. No, never run beta software on your daily phone.
Same here.I’ve been running public beta releases on my daily for years. That said, I usually hold off the beta updates until about a month or so before RC drops. Never had any issues that I couldn’t handle. They’re usually pretty stable at that point.
