Apple today released the eighth beta of an upcoming visionOS 2 update to developers, with the beta coming a week after the seventh beta.

Registered developers are able to opt into the betas by opening up the Settings app on their device, going to the Software Update Section, tapping on the "Beta Updates" option, and toggling on the Developer Beta. Note that an Apple ID associated with a developer account is required to download and install the beta.

visionOS 2 is able to take the depth information from 2D photos and turn them into 3D photos using advanced machine learning. Apple says that the feature is meant to add depth to photos to make memories more immersive.

There are new hand gestures for activating the Home View and Control Center, and the Home View is also now customizable with apps able to be rearranged. Travel Mode now includes support for trains, and Guest User profiles are now saved for 30 days so guests don't have to do the setup process every time they try out the headset.

Later in the year, Mac Virtual Display will support higher resolution and larger sized virtual displays, which Apple says will be equivalent to two 4K monitors side by side. With an AirPlay update, the Vision Pro can serve as an AirPlay receiver, so content from the iPhone, iPad, or Mac can be shared to the headset.

The Mindfulness app can track and respond to breathing patterns using the camera for an improved meditation experience, and the Vision Pro supports Bluetooth mice with visionOS 2.

Am I wrong, or has the blur in "see-trough" got even worse in Beta8? In not so bright light i start to gett dizzy...
Furthermore no complaints at all - running solid.

So far so good. The only problem I have with the beta is that dictation is causing me serious headaches. A lot of the time dictation is almost worthless. I hope they get this fixed.

Turning old 2D vacation pics into 3D is truly remarkable. It’s been fun re-living old pics. Even the perspective is almost to real life scale.
I'm not on the beta but I am looking forward to this feature.

When I first got my AVP, I... well as soon as someone had written some utilities to convert between spatial photos and other stereo formats, I brought up a bunch of vacation photos from 30 years ago that I had taken with a multi-lens camera, and made them into spatial photos.

It did bring back memories. I wish I had more photos to convert, but it was a film camera. The film was expensive. The developing was expensive and had to be done through the mail (the film was normal film and the processing was normal, but the lenticular prints were only done by one lab in Nevada). I'd have to wait up to two weeks to even know if the pictures came out. I didn't take as many pictures then as I would now when the incremental cost of another photo is next to $0.

Yeah i can agree with this one.
And it is difficult to go back and make a correction after it has continued on for the rest of the sentence.

I never used dictation on other devices, but started to try it on the AVP. I was quite pleased about the quality and speed in English and German. Sometimes it "hears" rubbish and it is difficult to do corrections indeed. I also remarked, that the cursor is floating around in another line ahead of the text. It still works, but it is not clear, where the input is placed.

What helps for dictation: If - I - speak - that - way - comma - I - get - good - results. :)

Article published yesterday and only 8 comments, mine included. Certainly, a very popular product.

Imagine, you own a Ferrari Testarossa and there is a forum for it....
Do you own and use the Vision Pro?

Regarding the Ferrari: I have read too many posts here and elsewhere about the Vision Pro, judging it as something remarkable but just too expensive.

You can do this with Bezel currently.

Last time I checked, Bezel didn't provide a curved 2x4K virtual monitor?
