None of the Apple Apps will reinstall if you remove them. Activity didn’t update correctly for me and now I’ve lost it.

Also, none of my first party icons are showing. Mail, music, etc. all crosshairs.

Very grateful to all of you getting out the beta, it sounds like I will wait for that point release for sure!

Battery life on DP 5 was better on my run this evening. It was a short, easy run, 42 minutes, 5 miles, Apple Watch 2 with GPS and music to AirPods, no iPhone, 22% battery drain (80%->58%). It had been consistently about 40% per hour for watch-based GPS+musc. 22%/42 minutes is more like 31%/60. Tomorrow I'll try a longer run with my Polar HR strap to see how it does with the HR strap off-loading the HR monitoring.

I still use the honeycomb launcher. I have it optimized into an X-shape with key apps in the center and related apps in each of the four legs. All of my common apps show within the default zoom level, and I know automatically based on type which way to drag for less common apps.

I have not use the HIIT (or Fractionné as it calls it in French) exercise. I was excited when they announced the feature, hoping I could use it for interval running workouts, but that's not what it's for. :(

If you don’t mind me asking what type of HIIT is it? I was also hoping for interval running workouts :/

First change I noted: it is allowing me to install without being on charger as noted in the release notes for the past 2 builds but did not work.

Hmmm... This is still not possible for me - still tells me to put it on the charger.

It appears to be just another indoor exercise. It doesn't even track distance during the workout. Calorie calculations may be optimized in some way for HIIT workouts (based solely on HR). And it will classify your workouts better if you care about that.

What we need is the ability to program a traditional running interval workout with repeats and recoveries based on distance or time (e.g., 2-mile warm-up, 8 x 0.5 mile with 2 min/0.25 mile jogs, cool-down). I'm still looking for a good Watch app that handles that. (I believe RunKeeper has the basic functionality, but the app was buggy when I tried it.)

Besides battery life, it is the one major advantage that my old Garmins (315xt and 910xt) have over my Apple Watch.

The Music app being consistently being open in WOS4 has to be contributing to the battery drain. Is there any way to disable it popping up when music is playing on the iPhone?

I see. It seems this is more geared toward the "boot camp" workouts in some classes, rather than HIIT as a general variation of the existing apps. While it initially seems disappointing, I think i understand how complex it would be for a more comprehensive buildout at this point. I suspect in the future there will be HIIT for, say, cycling but that might come into play with a watch with a cellular connection as well.

On the Watch app on the iPhone, under General->Screen Activation, there is a toggle for Launch Audio Apps. Turn that off. (I apologize if the menu names aren't exactly right. Those are my translations of the French menu names.)

I didn't like that functionality either, so I turned it off fairly quickly (once I found the toggle).

I’d be interested in your thoughts on this too. I can’t figure out how to set any type of interval on. All I can do is set a timer going. I assumed I’d be able to set minute long interval timers for example.

Not yet at least. It's strictly an indoor timer with a calorie calculation. There are no options beyond the usual Free Workout, Calorie Goal, and Time Goal. (There's no Distance Goal, since it's an indoor, non-distance workout.) As kaibelf said, it seems to be based to the boot camp style HIIT workouts (that my wife likes).

It's possible they beef the workout up later, but there's no sign of that.

Ah yes! Thank you!

Will report back tomorrow on battery life.

Thanks again.

I got the update now but a buddy of mine with the same previous beta still doesn’t see the newest update. Any suggestions? Reboot of everything several times and searching a lot of times hasn’t helped at all

I would delete the beta profile, reboot, reinstall the beta profile, reboot, search. If that doesn't fix it, I don't know.

I saw basically the same battery drain rate tonight (32%/hour) with the Polar H10 strap: 12 miles, 98 minutes, GPS+Music->AirPods, 52% battery drain. The HR strap doesn't seem to make much difference, which I find surprising. I guess whatever the watch saves turning off its HR sensor, it burns maintaining the second BT connection.

That's good enough, I guess. I've pretty much accepted that I have to take my phone on long runs (17-22 miles). As long as I start out with a solid charge, I can leave my phone behind on anything 15 and under. (I never run 16 for some reason. :p)

I had assumed it was an indoor style timer but you’d think with it being a HIIT workout that you would be able to set interval time and break time. Something along the lines of 1 minute interval 30 second break. Without that you’ll have to constantly watch the screen to see if you’re within your times.

Watch -> General -> Wake Screen -> Disable Auto-launch Audio Apps

I found this totally by accident, and it's helped a ton with battery life.

Battery life is still pretty bad... probably going to factory reset with the same settings and see if that makes a difference.
