Apple today seeded the fifth beta of an upcoming watchOS 11 update to developers for testing purposes, with the beta coming two weeks after the fourth beta was released.

To install the ‌watchOS 11 update, developers need to open the Apple Watch app, go to the Software Update section under "General" in Settings, and toggle on the watchOS 11 Developer Beta. An Apple ID linked to a developer account is required.

Once beta updates have been activated, watchOS 11 can be downloaded under the same Software Update section. To install software, an Apple Watch needs to have 50 percent battery life and it must be placed on an Apple Watch charger.

watchOS 11 introduces a new Vitals app that aggregates health metrics collected during sleep like heart rate and respiratory rate, providing day-to-day health insights to track whether something has changed. There's also a Training Load feature for monitoring the intensity of workouts and how that impacts the body over time.

The Smart Stack has been updated with new widgets and support for Live Activities and Translate, plus it is better able to suggest widgets based on time and daily routine. The Photos watch face includes suggestions for the best images to use, and the Check In safety feature now works with Workouts.

Activity Rings can be customized to change the goals for each day, and there is an option to pause for rest days or when ill without losing an activity streak. Double Tap now works for navigating through apps with one hand, and Apple Maps lets users create their own walking and hiking routes.

Same. Nothing. Haven’t used my Apple Watches in weeks this has been so bad. Wondering if I really need an Apple Watch anymore after it dies in 3 hours. Starting to not miss it anymore.

That’s fair. I’ve certainly been pondering if this AWU will be my last one too. I’ll just return to an analog/mechanical watch and save on spending an extra $700+ every few years.

My AW U2 has abysmal battery life with current Beta. Also the optimized charging doesn't work. I wake up at the same time for years and suddenly it doesn't charge to full but it's at 80% when i wake up.

It doesn't seem to be available for me either. I'm on iOS 18.1. Which the update for (along as all the .1 betas) were not released today.

Surprised watch won't update though.

I went from 56 hours average uptime between charges to 32 on the beta. Same settings.

Apple beta software is just awful. Avoid if you haven’t installed this year’s.

I can see why Berkshire is selling off their stock of Apple. Huge vote of no confidence in Apple or their leadership.

Think bigger picture - Sold stock because apple in general is just not performing as they used to. Apple used to be more polished and at the front of the game. Not a follower saying they do the "refined" approach. None of what we are seeing is "refined". iOS 17 --> 17.01 17.02 17.03 etc then a 17.1. They just don't catch the bugs like they used to. And saying these now OS's are more complicated, maybe, but there are next to no new features on the front end. Perhaps take longer before major overhauls and don't play catch up in production. Just my opinion though.

Check if ‘Optimized Charge Limit’ is turned on in Settings -> Battery -> Battery Health

This update keeps failing miserably. Nothing is working from the phone or the watch. It’s downloaded 2x already. Not impressed Apple.

Doesn’t appear as though the battery drain is any better…, still! Like how long Apple do you have to go before your **** works. Like this is 2.5 months in almost and it still runs like trash on the watch. Almost thought my watches were bricked. Really awful beta software currently toy
