Sorry to hear that. So it is beta specific then? I updated immediately after setup, so never got to see how vanilla 18.0 worked on the 16PM.

That said, after my reboot, I am holding my phone in my right hand with my palm lightly touching a tenth of an inch or so of bezel and no touch issues. Too early to tell, but it seems okay so far.
I have only noticed it on 18.1. I reported it on both devices via the Feedback option. I haven't paid attention enough to know what triggered it, but based on the reports about it being the hand detection thing to prevent accidental touches, if I use my phone in a way to make sure none of my hand touches the screen in any way, I don't seem to get it.

I wonder if it's the thinner bezel with that feature that makes it act up. You hand is just close enough to the screen that it registers and locks out accidental swipes. Not sure.

What I really want to see is a 0.1 with fixes for touch and support for RCS on more MVNOs.
Though some MVNO’s would like people to think otherwise, the process for sending carrier updates to iPhones have been clear for awhile. And for MVNO’s, Apple either already has the info OR their “NO” has yet to provide it. Most likely, for lots of reasons that boil down to “not ready”.

Had to return my iPad because the aluminum casing on the back came with a discolored scratch on the back. Over $1,000 product and their QC is absolute trash now. Not surprised they can’t figure out how to write an operating system for flagship product that doesn’t brick the device 😂
That’s a rather broad conclusion drawn from a single anecdote. Statistically, their quality control process is quite good.

OK then, what I really want to see is a definitive public statement from Apple and/or Google confirming whether or not they have submitted the necessary information. They were crowing for years about RCS, and now that the iPhone supports it, they weren't ready.

But that's what I was kind of implying with what I said, I hope that now that it's out more MVNOs have gotten on the ball and that there would be updates to push already.

On the other hand, it's almost like using a Google branded MVNO primarily aimed at selling their own phones was a mistake to use with an iPhone.

But from what I've heard, the other MVNOs aren't supporting it yet either. Each party still blames the other.

They reverted the Siri glow.

I suspect they're going to bring it back with 18.2, when they integrate GPT.

It's funny, as I don't think Android phones had RCS enabled by default until the last year. I messaged 7 android users, 1 had RCS enabled. 5 had to go enable it for it to work. 1 doesn't use the Google Messenger and the third party they use doesn't support it. Google has acted like, OMG everyone is using this but you!

Well, they just fixed the "iCloud+ with @@totalCurrentPaidAndFreeStorageWithUnit@@ of storage" in the text/plain part of their invoice emails last month after I don't know how many years.
