OS X 10.11.2 Public Beta 5 running flawlessly on my mid-2011 iMac. But then again El Capitan for me at least has been outstanding since it was released and has breathed new life in to the four year old workhorse.

I hope this new version of El Crapitan restores my ability to use Apple mail. Apple genius confirmed I should use Outlook in the meantime because he had no fix for Mail breaking.

MAIL is a train wreck in El Capitan. If you don't want to lose it, have a backup of Yosemite or BEWARE.

As for the multiple screen problem by someone else, I've been reporting this since the very first Yosemite releases. While I have an Apple supported AMD card in a Mac Pro, mine is not one of the models Apple sold for my Mac and I have more display options as a result. As usual, Apple doesn't support customization even on their OWN allegedly expandable Mac Pros! UGH!

But with El Capitan, finally my Mac Pro booted to something other than a blank screen. Yosemite kept booting to my HDTV set for some odd reason even though it was not the selected BOOT SCREEN.

System Preferences simply DON'T STICK in PRAM and that includes Apple ID info apparently now too.

I just want it to fix the Time Machine not working issue. I read that there is an issue with having a UPS plugged in via USB, but I'll keep running manually for now and hope it gets resolved with 10.11.2

I get a ton of beach balls since El Cap was introduced... I gave up on beta testing after a few bricks in the early betas. Living with a somewhat stable machine since turning off the betas has me once again appreciating my mac. Being a beta tester just isn't worth it unless you are a dev and need to be on the cutting edge.

I hope they fix the current graphical issues; while the new OS is, overall, enhanced in terms of performance, the one thing that seems to have gotten heavier is the tax on graphics. I find El Capitan's animations to be slower/laggier on my machines than how they were in Yosemite and prior. On my 2009 MacBook Pro, opening Stacks files, etc. is incredibly choppy when I am using my battery. When plugged in, things are better - but not great. It also takes a long time for my Mac to connect to my remembered WiFi network.

Come on, Apple: this OS is, graphically, dumbed-down compared to pre-Yosemite OS's. Let's make sure it at least runs like it is. I've seen more elaborate-looking operating systems from 2000 (a.k.a the OG Mac OSX) that tax a graphics card far less than this does. Even something as shiny as Leopard/Snow Leopard doesn't tax my graphics card as much as 'simplified' El Capitan does. While I appreciate that Apple focussed on performance here, we all know that software normally becomes more and more resource intensive as time goes on.

What I hate to see is a piece of software has a UI simpler than that of a piece of software from the 1990s, yet it chews way more resources. I hate this phony kind of simplicity... we want REAL simplicity if we're gonna get it in the first place.

Oh, and I get graphical bugs (on our 2009 Mac Mini server) when I click icons (such as in Sys Prefs.) What gives?

Not fixed. But I didn't notice it before and now that you pointed it out I will notice it all the time. Thanks, Obama! ;)

Long story but I was not in a position where I could downgrade my iMac once I noticed this change in El Capitan and it makes El Capitan unsuitable for the work I do daily. The staff at the genius bar never noticed it with some techs becoming angry afterwards due to it being one of those things where, once it has been seen it cannot be unseen. Its not so bad if you click occasionally but I deal with thousands of files and folders hourly. Only solution is to double click while holding CMD to open a new finder tab then closing that tab out when done to return to original location.

Erdbeertorte, how are you finding 2133 MHz Ram's? Which model are you using? I thought iMac 5K (late 2015) supports max 1866 MHz RAMs

I am using HyperX Impact from Kingston. There is a thread in the iMac section of this forum, where you can see what kind of RAM is working in the late 2015 iMacs.

Anyone using the beta, can you tell me if it fixes this issue or adds an option to turn off:

In finder window, if you click on a folder moving forward, then click on the back button, it defaults to the top of the finder window instead of the original location you were browsing. This is a problem when you have hundreds of files and have to scroll back to your original location.

This default to top finder view is in El Capitan but not previous OS X versions. There are a lot of us annoyed by this like natural scroll but at least natural scroll added the option to turn off.

Just tried now in beta five and at least when in list view it stays at the same place when going ”back”, but when in column view it jumps up to the top. :-/

Are the data detector fields showing up in the Mail headers for anyone else? The little "1 new contact found" or "2 new events found" thing at the top. I just noticed they're gone for me but I'm not sure if they left with PB 5 or if I hadn't noticed it before upgrading.

All 3 monitors (1 internal and 2 external) still wake up on my 2012 15" non-r MBP (512MB nVidia 650M) - just as they have on all the 10.11.2 betas.

What Mac system are you running?
Running an nMP with two displays. The Apple Thunderbolt monitor works but the third-party UHD one has the sleep issue (and I never had the issue on previous betas nor on Windows or other Mac partitions)

Nope, comes with 1867 as standard but supports higher. I'm running 32Gb 2133 HyperX.

Install of this beta failed for me. After download and restart I get: "OS X El Capitan Update could not be verified". Then it skips the update and restarts.
I tried twice, same result. Problem with App Store again?

Started having odd wake-up isssues again on mid-2010 27" iMac. Since installing this beta have had to flick the power button most times to wake it up. Definitely wasn't like this before.

GPU drives updated on the M395X? Not that I'm experiencing any issues but it is always nice to have improvements.

I did not check the driver version before. But you can compare that screenshot to yours:

Is there something wrong with pairing an iPhone to a Mac via Bluetooth these days? I had a Macbook Pro and an iPhone 6 Plus, couldn't ever get them paired. I had to replace my iPhone and still couldn't pair it to the Macbook Pro. Now I have the same iPhone and a new iMac 27" and STILL can't get them paired. So that's like 3 or 4 different combinations of iphone and Mac with zero success in getting them paired. Is it most likely OS X?

I know connecting an iPhone via a reversible USB/Lightning connector is still not fixed and a no no. Will zap your Bluetooth off, disconnect the iPhone and force a complete shut down and restart. I've been complaining about this since the very first days of Yosemite and Apple has done NOTHING about it. It sometimes even happens with the Apple supplied USB connector too, but that's rare. But the Bluetooth issues abound still, but it seems mostly with older machines. I know the standard response here is usually, whey don't you just buy a new Mac? But I don't think that's an acceptable answer. I have a supported Mac Pro and should not be having all these problems on a supported Apple OS release. :-(

By the way, I'm reading horror stories about lost iTunes libraries and even the Apple Stores not able to fix the problem. Is anyone else having this problem. My Apple ID keeps causing a FREEZE that requires Force Quitting to get out of and I therefor have no access to my iTunes songs, even those paid for under El Capitan.
