Mark Gurman likely isn't wrong then. Seems so odd, but perhaps it is because they know some users won't update to iOS 14 until the new phones arrive so they want to offer important COVID updates to them too? I'll be updating to iOS 14 immediately on my 11 Pro to support new Apple Watches that hopefully as rumored arrive in September.
Not really odd. Apple’s released iOS in advance of new iphone availability before, and then just put secret new features in the .1 release.

A vaccine is really the only thing that is going to put this pandemic behind us, and the earliest one that actually completed all the proper safety testing would be available is around Spring 2021, but then you have to factor the time to manufacture and distribute it. We still have months of living with COVID-19 suppression ahead of us...

CDC data states that people under 50 who are healthy, we're looking at sub .04% mortality rates. Less than the certain strains of flu for that demo. What I want to see when the dust settles is the residual effects of this hysteria (I don't say that word lightly) associated with this virus. Increases to suicides, chronic depression (with the associated increase of prescriptions), related substance abuse, financial hardship, etc. Quality of life for those that aren't part of vulnerable populations. The effectiveness of lockdowns. A look at countries like Sweden who never locked down really vs XYZ.

A pragmatic view, not one fueled by politics or the hatred of particular people. Because really, unless we put aside all the left / right BS, how can we ever come to a solid conclusion and path going forward? With that, I'll get off my virtual soapbox. Again, we need a pragmatic lens here, not one clouded by political leanings. Who really are the winners and losers here?

People keep forgetting that there really is a reason why almost every country is taking these drastic measures. To flatten the curve. People easily forget the horrors of what happened early on in Italy. I’m sure you understand that a country like the US would also not have been able to deal with a sudden spike.

Maybe Sweden’s approach will prove to be the better one in the long run. But it’s not easy to compare countries. It requires scientists and experts to do that. Still, It’s already demonstrated that Sweden has more deaths than its neighbours.

Right, I'm just saying lets also look at the residual effects of a lock-down rather than just pure deaths/cases. Were more people's lives ruined/ended (suicide is way up,calls to the hotline are up over 1000% in the same period from last year) ? How will it impact development of younger generations, etc. IMO, Humans are not meant to be couped up. We've survived way worse as a species. Maybe lock-downs are the right answer. But I'd like to see a holistic study of all the factors. No one even talks about common colds strains and the progression from severe to nearly a benign nuisance, yet still dangerous for certain populations. The corona virus family has been known for decades.

But I'm no expert, I want to see a neutral study by folks way more versed than me and not sponsored by any political leaning or media outlet to fit their narrative. I do think there are/will be quite a few of these studies, but how much exposure will they get if their findings are contrary to whomever is holding the strings?

i'm not really sure that is true... apple DOES release iOS about 2-3 days prior to the new phones coming out for about the last 5 years but i don't really count that. i don't think there has been a single example of iOS coming out a significant amount of time (more than days) ahead of a new iPhone.

9to5Mac is saying this is a general public release.

It’s not available to to me yet so I’d say MacRumors is the early leader right now.

Yeah I just saw that and thought "HUH???", then came here.
Still, 13.7....didn't see that coming to be honest.
