Hopefully with a fix for display refresh rates and resolutions when using an external monitor. 11.1 has been terrible - Big Sur generally boots into a lower resolution and/or refresh rate on the external display ever since 11.1 was released (though there are reports of this issue cropping up in the betas) - was absolutely fine with 11.01. Running a MacBook Pro 16" here with a 27" BenQ monitor and USB-C connection, so nothing too exotic.
Just installed 11.1 on my Ryzentosh and have been greeted with 30khz on my 28” 4K monitor 🤦‍♂️ No option to increase and switchresx just ain’t behaving for me 😱

No issues here, 16" MBP, 11.1, two 4K BenQ "Designer" PD3200U connected via CalDigit TS3+ Dock (1x DP 1x USB-C to HDMI). Displays Scaled to Larger text (2560x1440) both @ 60Hz.

I have the BenQ EX2780Q which can go up to 144Hz at 2560x1440. MBP plugged directly into the monitor via USB-C, no docks or anything to potentially interfere. But since 11.1 came along, there is prolonged negotiation between Macbook Pro and the monitor and it ends up either with the wrong refresh rate or resolution. Sometimes both. No problems with 11.01, no problems with Catalina.

Just to confirm. You had no problem with 11.0?

I'm still waiting with Catalina. I tried setting up second boot drive in preparation for Big Sur so I could go back and forth but got tired of having to type in my password and two-factor authentication that yes this was my computer, so am reluctant to move on until I'm very sure. I also don't like the blurring of borders and more burying of options.

I can confirm that I've not had a single display related issue with 11.01 (which was the general release version - I don't use any of the developer or public betas on this machine), and no display issues with Catalina either.

I'm kind of forced into Big Sur on my home machine because my work machine is still at work (thanks to the Lockdowns) and the people I provide I.T. support with BOYDs are installing Big Sur despite me telling them not to - naughty folks - so I have had to get ahead (as it were) to see what problems are likely to come up. Of which there are still quite a few software developers having to play catch-up..

Maybe fix airpods auto switching as it doesn't work when going from iPhone to mac like it should
That issue applies to me as well, and another issue where if I remove one AirPod and it pauses what I'm watching, then it will just switch to the MacBook speakers after 10 seconds and I have to turn Bluetooth on and off just to reconnect my AirPods.

I installed 11.1... it's pretty decent when compared to Catalina. The way tabs are done on Safari is annoying, not sure why Apple loves to hide options from users. If I want the ugly add tab thing there, let me have it.
I wish Safari‘s Mac UI were better in general. Grey text on grey-white background for the favorites bar and the new tab button being in a weird spot are just the tip of the issues. I sometimes wonder if they do any real world usability testing with the UI or just in-house because someone should have complained by now.

i would love to use it on my Mac, especially with things like keychain sharing between iOS and macOS devices, but it’s just too annoying.

Well worth purchasing an app called "SwitchResX" if you use an external display regularly. Unlocks proper native res and high refresh rates on my LG ultrawide monitor that the inbuilt macOS display preferences cannot see or activate. You can also set "startup" resolutions that take effect as soon as the machine boots, I have mine set to "3840x1600@120hz" on boot with this monitor connected and it works flawlessly every time. App can be found here: https://www.madrau.com/

I have a Mac Pro 2019 with three Dell P2715Q monitors, all 4K, all connected via DisplayPort. All three running scaled at 2560x1440 (native 4K is 3840x2160). One of them consistently looks like the antialiasing is messed up—graphics aren't quite smooth, fonts aren't sharply rendered. When I open System Information, it shows two of the displays with "Resolution" of 5K (not possible*) and one with 2560x1440 native (what). Two show "UI Looks like" as 2560x1440 @ 60.00Hz (great), one shows 2560x1440 @ 59.00Hz (what). Catalina worked correctly with all three monitors exactly as connected on the same machine.

*It's possible Big Sur uses a 5K buffer to render the 2560x1440 virtual display in, then downsamples to 4K for sending to the actual monitors. Fine, but can we get a better label then in System Information? And why is unlucky monitor #3 unlucky?

Don't know what happened with the when I tried to install 11.2 beta.
I was running the release version of 11.1 and it downgraded me to the 11.1 beta and corrupted some built-in system apps.

It's downloading and installing 11.2 again so I'm hoping it was a glitch and I'm not going to get into an 11.1 beta loop.

"There's no word just yet on what's included in ‌macOS Big Sur‌ 11.2, but it likely includes stuff."

Just fixed it for you.

Catalina use to boot up faster on my 2019 i9 iMac.
I don't like bloat and a slow boot up
Big Sur is a bloated 12GB in size.
better keep a spare on a drive. This puppy is HUGE!
Even with a 72GB memory upgrade!

Same for me with DELL U2720Q, getting only 30Hz at first connection every time I boot my MBP 16 i9, then 60Hz. Using USB-C DELL OEM cable, had the issue with Catalina too. I also have an issue with monitor's internal USB hub going only 2.0...

Annoying as hell. Even with DefaultFolder installed, nothing seems to work to remember size or even set a fixed size.
Oh good, it's not just me then. This is super annoying and I seem to remember this bug happening in Yosemite as well when it was first released. Hopefully it's fixed soon! If 11.2 fixes the issue, I'd install the beta just to have that fixed.

Big Sur is twice the size most likely because it also has code to run on Apple Silicon Macs. This wouldn't be considered bloat. This same thing happened with Tiger when Apple was transitioning to Intel.

Yes. Bug Sur boots slow. No if ands or butts. It's fans will blame your cpu, hard drive, etc. Fact is it boots slower than previous OS iterations by a considerable margin-near 30% slower for my MBA.

Honestly, who cares? How often do you boot? 1x per month? 2x per month?
