Apple Seeds First Beta of macOS Mojave 10.14.2 to Developers [Update: Now Available]

Apple today seeded the first beta of an upcoming macOS Mojave 10.14.2 update to developers, just one day after releasing macOS Mojave 10.14.1.

The new macOS High Sierra 10.14.2 beta can be downloaded through the Software Update mechanism in System Preferences after the proper profile has been installed from Apple's Developer Center.

We don't yet know what improvements the second update to macOS Mojave will bring, but it is likely to include bug fixes and performance improvements for issues that weren't able to be addressed in the macOS 10.14.1 update.

Should we discover anything new in the 10.14.2 beta, we'll update this post.

The new 10.14.2 software comes just a day after Apple released macOS 10.14.1, an update that brought support for Group FaceTime on the Mac and introduced new emoji characters.

Update: Apple has removed the macOS Mojave 10.14.2 developer beta from the Developer Center for unknown reasons.

Update 2: The macOS Mojave 10.14.2 developer beta is available for download again.

HomePod 12.1 was released about an hour or so ago, mine has installed it.

According to a dev on Twitter, the 12.1 update for 12.0 users was pointing to an internal Apple website instead of a public one. Still a gaff, but they fixed it quickly.

I agree, although I think it is not the team, but rather the leadership culture that puts marketing and BS ahead of everything else.

I am really bummed out! I was expecting 10.14.1 and Safari 12.0.1 to fix that small favicons on my Touch Bar but they’re still small squares instead of filling up the entire buttons like they always did on 10.12.1 all the way to 10.13.6 with Safari 11.

Is Apple ever going to take care of this?!! My OCD can’t take it anymore! And I’m definitely not doing a clean install just to find that nothing changes!

Safari 12.0.1 is already out with yesterday updates

I think its dependent on the website, I still have some favicons which take up all of the TouchBar...

I know that's why I said 12.0.1. First thing I did was fire Safari up to see if it had even a minor update from 12.0. It did but sadly this behavior was not fixed.

I know. I do too! I keep deleting my cache since a mix of full size and small drives me more crazy than just having them uniformly small! I've found ESPN, iCloud and as many others do work properly but you have to open the page before that happens.

The normal behavior is for these favicon to show up full size as soon as you empty the cache or delete the history. That has been broken ever since the Safari 12.0 update even on 10.13.6 about a week before Mojave came out.

I know which is why I commented about something not fixed in 10.14.1 that I would like 10.14.2 to fix. It's not like anyone here has much insight into the changes in 10.14.2 when the beta was only released today. Jeez man.

I don't think anyone really has any insight into it since it was pulled. You can usually have pretty good luck getting in touch with Apple Engineering if you file a bug report online: https://bugreport.apple.com/

"Bug Reporting
For issues not mentioned in release notes, file bugs through Apple Bug Reporter.

When filing a bug, please include the full version number in the bug title and in the description. This looks like “10.14 (18Axxxx).” You can find the full version number by choosing About This Mac from the Apple Menu. In the window that appears, click on “Version 10.14” displayed beneath “macOS” to show the full version including the part that is in parentheses."
