Monterey was suppose to be less underlying changes, more refining, not quite as major as Big Sur support of AS based Macs. Internally MacOS 13 is referred to as Rome, why would they give it that naming if things weren't expanding its capabilities. So if MacOS13 represent as much changes as Big Sur, Mammoth which is a registered name by Apple for a OS like Monterey, will not be about a big extinct elephant, more like something that is really cool and can shake up things a lot. ;)
Rome? I prefer "The Evil Empire."

I miss the Apple hockey puck mouse

I liked the one with the little pimple for scrolling...

I still have one, tucked away in a cupboard, but the pimple doesn't work any more.
I read somewhere that you can disassemble the mouse, clean the pimple, and put it back together, but I found a LogiTech mouse that does all it does, and more, and is wireless.

Any idea of tap to click issue in this beta?
Unfortunately still existent on MBP 2021 and 12.4. Normal tap to click works for me, but when using command + tap (for example to open a link in a new tab in Firefox) I usually have to do it three times. Only sometimes it works with the first tap. It's really annoying and confusing. :-(

I found these explanations and suggestions to fix it, but unfortuantely they don't work for me all the time.

Some more than others.

Also I like your signature. Not every Apple computer is best for everyone and it can't suit everyone but it may be best for you or me and meet our needs and wants perfectly.
Thanks ☺️. I’ve been accused of being an apple hater…yet I’ve been using them since 1989. Sort of like with my bumper stickers I’ve been accused of hating America…yet I served for 8 years (USAF). Some folks just see in black and white I guess. Being highly critical of something can show intense interest and caring. Just depends on your point of view.

I am still waiting for apple to make a mouse that I like or find comfortable to use ;)
Have you tried the Magic Trackpad? Others' experience may be different; but for me, the Magic Trackpad taps, multi-finger taps and gestures exceed anything I can do with a mouse .. and add the elimination of hand stress that is commonly experienced with mouse use, and I can't imagine ever going back to using a mouse.

As mentioned elsewhere, I can now log in with LogiTech Options with 12.5. I haven't been able to with any previous versions of macOS 12.

I have zero issues with the Apple Magic Mouse, ergonomic or otherwise. Well, one, and that is the charging port on the bottom. That’s just stupid. Otherwise, it works well for me. Shocker for most people here, I know.
Agreed on that. I have both the previous battery-powered Magic Mouse and the newer Lightning-charged version, and I like the solid feel in my hand when using them. The battery charging on the model equipped with Lightning is not ideal, but I've found that the mouse doesn't need to be charged but once every two or three months—it seems very power-efficient. I've used many-a-mouse in my time, and for some reason the simplicity and solid feel of the Magic Mouse is what keeps me using them.

No surprise but Disk Utility still unexpectedly quits on M1 family Macs when unmounting/group volume erase a external USB-A HDD with a USB-C dongle. Restarts OK.
I checked this a few days later on both M1 Macs, and the Disk Utility was no longer unexpectedly quitting. Yes did it on M1 24" iMac and a M1 Max 16" MBP and Disk Utility didn't quit.
