Apple today seeded the first beta of an upcoming macOS Ventura 13.1 update to developers for testing purposes, with the beta coming one day after the official launch of macOS Ventura.

Registered developers can download the beta through the Apple Developer Center and after the appropriate profile is installed, betas will be available through the Software Update mechanism in System Preferences.

We don't yet know what new features or changes are included in macOS Ventura 13.1, but should we find anything in the beta, we'll update this article.

I was on betas all the way up but now want to switch them off, but can't seem to find how? There are no profiles installed, and I can't find a checkbox for betas…

edit: never mind I got it. Have to click on the 'Learn more' link at the end of the 'This Mac is enrolled…" text.

build number is 22C5033e
Anyone able to explain the massive change in build number?

I kind of understand their build number, but this has gone to C and not B and the daily build number is 5033 which is a LOT higher than the 380 from the final release.

So, has anything signfiicantly changed in System Settings on this latest beta? Here are my 2 biggest issues with it:
  • can't resize it
  • search feature doesn't work as expected

Hi,

Try this on Terminal:
  • To leave developer betas updates:
    • sudo /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/Seeding.framework/Versions/A/Resources/seedutil unenroll DeveloperSeed
  • To get developer betas releases:
    • sudo /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/Seeding.framework/Versions/A/Resources/seedutil enroll DeveloperSeed
That's it!

Nice, so this method evades the use of the public beta profile and developer beta profile install?

Yessss, only copy and paste on Terminal, press Enter and input your Mac account password when prompted. No more profiles or stuff to download or install.

Tbh, Ventura 13.0 has been super solid for me so far in limited use. It seems to have fixed a kernel panic that was introduced in Big Sur, which I am crazy thankful for. I had to start running "mouse ji
gglers" on both my Mac Mini and Mac Pro (T2-chip machines, I note) to prevent these kernel panics. Any time my machines considered inactivity, they'd panic, regardless of sleep, background settings, etc. No KPs so far on my Mac Pro with jiggler removed....

I see, how did you figure this out? Or has this been known for a long time?
I guess I do not remember, but it was almost two years ago searching on some Webpages related to Mac betas, for sure!! Long time I do not use since I use my Mac for working. I am neither a software developer nor a programmer. Only used for checking new macOs features and give Apple some feedback on bugs. I only used to get major versions betas, but not the first ones. Make a complete backup with Time Machine before beta testing!!!

Hey @Realityck this was addressed earlier in the thread, but I still don't get it - where in the System Settings (or elsewhere) do I find if I am or am not enrolled in Beta (I'm not a developer; I just use the Public) I want to get off the Beta train for a while...

MacOS 13.1 dev beta 1
  • Safari Version 16.1 (18614.3.2.11.2)
  • System Firmware Version: 8419.60.31 (M1 based Macs)
  • Darwin Kernel Version 22.2.0: Sun Oct 16 18:11:16 PDT 2022; root:xnu-8792.60.32.0.1~11/RELEASE_ARM64_T8103 arm64
MacOS 13 dev RC2
  • Safari Version 16.1 (18614.2.9.1.12)
  • System Firmware Version: 8419.41.10 (M1 based Macs)
  • Darwin Kernel Version 22.1.0: Sun Oct 9 20:14:30 PDT 2022; root:xnu-8792.41.9~2/RELEASE_ARM64_T8103 arm64

Its easier to do by terminal (in utilities)
sudo /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/Seeding.framework/Resources/seedutil unenroll

If you want to use PB again
sudo /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/Seeding.framework/Resources/seedutil enroll PublicSeed

Installed 13.1, I can resize System Settings vertically, but not horizontally. (I'm admittedly not sure what was available to me before, I've never tried to resize it.)
