For what it's worth, I have the Facetime icon available on my 2021 ATV 4K now. So the latest and greatest isn't required for this particular feature, at least. A test Facetime call I made was incredibly buggy with choppy audio, but the video quality was outstanding on my 4K TV. I was using a new iPad Mini and it only let me use the front facing camera, so my video was terrible, but the person that I called looked great.

Guess I’ll have to try that. Still not updating to 17 otherwise.Factory reset before upgrade solved it
I've installed 17 on my ATV but I don't see a FaceTime icon nor can I access any control centre??
Do you have Bluetooth turned on for either your iPhone or iPad? And how old is your ATV?
Really looking forward to this update. Still wish we could update through the Home app like we can with HomePods. And that tvOS would get the Home app.
