Apple today seeded the first beta of an upcoming macOS Catalina 10.15.5 update to developers for testing purposes, one week after releasing macOS Catalina 10.15.4 with Screen Time Communication Limits, iCloud Folder Sharing, and real-time Apple Music lyrics.

The new ??macOS Catalina?? beta can be downloaded using the Software Update mechanism in System Preferences after installing the proper software from the Developer Center.

We don't know what improvements the fifth update to ??macOS Catalina?? will bring, but it likely includes performance improvements, security updates, and fixes for bugs that weren't able to be addressed in the macOS Catalina 10.15.4 update.

I would wait till 10.15.106 in all honesty, the way this OS is going it's going to be a while till it's good to go...

I really do hope that this year is a year they fix all the bugs, and not try to add many great sounding features that cause more pain than they give, and ones that nobody really uses.

I waited till 10.15.4, and although all hell didn't break loose when i upgraded last week from Mojave there are some annoying bugs that are not really acceptable in 2020. Like not being able to restart or turn your mac off, like how the hell did that bug get in? So yeah, i hope 10.15.5 will be released soon.

I’ve had so many issues with the release version of 10.15.4 (the beta was fine). Hopefully this fixes them.

10.15.4 on 2019 Mac Pro nothing but issues. Been in Adobe all day and had several serious halts just playing text back. Couldn’t get the machine to respond at all until it did whatever it needed in the background. not even moving the cursor, it just stuttered to a standstill.

Are you connected to a server, and do you have the files opened from there? We've seen some ethernet performance issues and drop-outs with the latest beta - seems they fix one thing and break another.

Is there a change log? I am asking because Apple has promised me a fix for a bug that causes bookmark sync to stop working, that among others affects my iCloud account..

No not connected to a server. Some files connected to a Raid though. Gonna try moving them to the local drive and see if I get the same performance issue.

I have lost all faith in Catalina - and if the next release (10.16) is no better, that will be my days of Apple products well and truly over.

Catalina, since 10.15.3 work well on my computer. But if your experience is not appropriate, you should install 10.14.6, that works prefect.

I hope this update fixes the issue that became prevalent on 10.15.4 which causes 16 inch MacBook pros to shutdown while they are sleeping and charging. Can anyone confirm that this issue has been fixed on this new update?
