Apple today seeded the first betas of upcoming iOS 15.6 and iPadOS 15.6 updates to developers for testing purposes, with the new software coming two days after the launch of iOS 15.5 and iPadOS 15.5.

Developers can download iOS 15.6 and iPadOS 15.6 through the Apple Developer Center or over the air after the proper profile has been installed on an iPhone or iPad.

We don't yet know what might be introduced in iOS 15.6 and iPadOS 15.6, as Apple has now implemented all of the features that were announced as coming in the iOS and iPadOS 15 updates, and work on iOS 15 is likely winding down with iOS 16 approaching.

iOS 15.6 and iPadOS 15.6 could be some of the last updates to iOS 15 and iPadOS 15 as Apple is now working on iOS 16. We'll get our first glimpse at iOS 16 on June 6, the first day of the Worldwide Developers Conference.

Apple has also seeded initial betas of tvOS 15.6 and watchOS 8.7.

Oh! What a surprise! I didn’t see that coming!

It will be interesting to see what can we find here, if there’s any fix for the SE 3 reboots or any refinement to iOS 15.

In the meantime, I guess we will see iOS 15.5.1 at some point in the near future.

Given very subdued list of new features on iOS/iPadOS 15.5, I thought it would be the last minor update to iOS 15. Of course, there will be iOS/iPadOS 15.5.x for bug fixes.

I am inclined to think that 15.6 will focus on government regulatory related changes, such as App Store related changes. And perhaps Apple Classical Music will make its debut.

My guess? Probably not much.
My assumption is this is probably the big last bug fix update for the A8 and A9 devices, and after 16 comes out in the fall they’ll be designated to major bug fix and security updates only, 15.6.1, 15.6.2 etc.
Could possibly also add support for Apple’s classical music app, I could see that coming sooner than the fall

I’m waiting until the very last release, some time in August before I install this despised OS on my iPhone. Not looking forward to it - but staying more than a year behind sucks even more.
What version are you currently on? Are you on iOS 14.8/14.8.1 like I used to?

You are illogically biting off your nose to spite your face.

And for no reason as 15 runs well, even on my antique 6S and Air 2.

And at considerable risk as multiple updates during 15 have fixed exploits some of which were under active exploit.

Despised?

Despised by me anyway. Every iteration of iOS 15 nailed my iPhone 7 test mule until the last two releases. Insane battery drain. Phone takes 44 seconds to turn off (to this day). Wacky battery reporting and several other things (storage reporting anomalies and odd behavior).

I purchased a (new to me) Apple refurbished iPhone 8 Plus that had 14.8.1 on it and it runs flawlessly (except for the annoying Safari back behavior).
I wasn’t about to install “garbage” unfinished iOS 15 on my “new” phone.

I’ve become so head shy about installing new versions of iOS, having been burned too many times in the past, that my current plan of action is to only install it ONCE, when it’s done, some time in August.

Not necessarily you had iOS 14.8 release Sept 13 last year.

Just to comfort you a little : Given how many bugs there still is in iOS 15, it's like you're already running a beta !
Seriously. It's sad when you install beta software in hopes that it contains bug fixes since the official software is so buggy.?

It's a great release, aside from some CarPlay problems which mostly aren't new.

Here’s a test. Anyone on 15.5, can you take a burst photo, delete it and delete it from deleted items? If not, I guess I’m not alone and will install the beta to report this issue.
