I’m waiting until the very last release, some time in August before I install this despised OS on my iPhone. Not looking forward to it - but staying more than a year behind sucks even more.
iOS 15 has been running just fine on my devices since day 1.

I can't think of too many issues and certainly no show-stoppers that I have experienced.

very jealous.

Took till 15.3 for iPhone 13 to process photos quicker than 30 seconds.

15.4.1 destroyed my battery life on 13 series. 15.5 thankfully fixed.

15.5 introduced a bug where I can't send pictures to folks in my messages without a restart. Just converts images to "attachment 1 image" and app freezes.

15.5 is out on iPad and it still hasn't fixed the screen glitch where touch doesn't work with magic keyboard without quitting and re opening apps. 15.3.1 fixed this, only to be broken again in 15.4

Gosh I remember when .3 version of IOS meant it was iron clad.

Clean install on my iPad and 13 Pro when I got it and experienced none of the issues others like yourself have reported.

Did you do a clean install or did you restore from a backup or do an in-place upgrade?

The reason I ask is that every single year I never ever get any of the problems others report and I often wonder if its because I set up from scratch each time.

Despised by me anyway. Every iteration of iOS 15 nailed my iPhone 7 test mule until the last two releases. Insane battery drain. Phone takes 44 seconds to turn off (to this day). Wacky battery reporting and several other things (storage reporting anomalies and odd behavior).

I purchased a (new to me) Apple refurbished iPhone 8 Plus that had 14.8.1 on it and it runs flawlessly (except for the annoying Safari back behavior).
I wasn’t about to install “garbage” unfinished iOS 15 on my “new” phone.

I’ve become so head shy about installing new versions of iOS, having been burned too many times in the past, that my current plan of action is to only install it ONCE, when it’s done, some time in August.
Agreed. Despite a clean install on my XR it performs way worse than 14.8. its' animations are constantly 'juddery' when 14.8's were smooth on exactly the same device.

The quality fit and finish beneath the hood and on the bodywork just hasn't been there.

I've said on other posts here that iOS 15 reminds me of iOS 11, another release with sub par UX and weird bugs throughout its life (remember the notifications text cut offs on that release?).

On the positive: I prefer the bottom bar for Safari but the rest of the new Safari UI seems very inelegant and unintuitive - not to mention a slow feeling overall UX. I do like relay and the other privacy features though.

In the end though, I'll be glad to go to its iOS 16. It can't be worse than 15. I hope.

both devices were brand new with iOS 15 installed.

m1 iPad Pro and iPhone 13 mini.

Agreed tho, always clean install!

Whats crazy is I rarely got any woes that others get each prior year but man, this go has been horrific. My Mac studio can't even handle 2 displays from sleep correctly and its a machine that starts at $2,000.

Disappointed galore in whoever apples been hiring for software lately.

Just to comfort you a little : Given how many bugs there still is in iOS 15, it's like you're already running a beta !
I use Spotify for music and podcasts , Gmail for email , Google maps , Google photo and Google drive for my files , WhatsApp for messages ….
If you don’t use any Apple app it’s bugfree actually ??

A bit unrelated but for Windows users here, there's a new iTunes release, version 12.12.4.1

I have had a few annoying issues that have been fixed throughout iOS/iPadOS 15 but in general it has been great. As a side, I can’t remember was year Apple released it (last year?) but the clipboard shared across devices is super handy. I routinely copy something on one of my devices and paste on my iPad, iPhone, MacBook.

Universal Clipboard actually started in iOS 10 and macOS Sierra! Fantastic feature, it helped me a ton in college.

New devices coming soon at WWDC that need this iOS and iPadOS upgrade?
Perhaps...perhaps not... I wouldn't read into it too much. iOS 15 development is far from done since there's still about about 4-5 months left to go until we get iOS/iPadOS 16.

Last year we got 14.6 in May, 14.7 in July, and 14.8 in September. Similar thing the previous year as well. 13.5 in May, 13.6 in July, and 13.7 in September. I wouldn't be surprised if this trend continues.

For all of you guys shocked that more versions are coming to iOS 15 because "yeah WWDC is less than a month away"... you realize that you won't get any official, final and released version of iOS 16 until September and, until then, iOS 15 will still be the king of the jungle, right?
No major features coming but we know Apple hasn't been very original with their version numbering scheme...

Yep, not sure why anyone’s surprised.
It’s pretty much been a trend, a new X.X update comes out every two months or so.
X.0 in mid September
X.1 in late October to early November, usually to coincide with macOS. Usually includes the majority of features that were delayed from the initial release
X.2 in mid December, usually to coincide with any last minute products Apple introduces in a year, AirPods Max, Smart Battery Cases, etc
X.3 in late January/early February
X.4 in March/April, usually to coincide with any spring event, usually includes any leftover features that were delayed from the original announcement, sometimes has a nice set of surprise mid-cycle features like trackpad support on iPad, Night Shift, etc.
X.5 in May right before WWDC
X.6 in mid-summer
X.7 in September, usually for people who won’t update the next major version or for the devices that won’t be getting the next major version.
Obviously the schedule is slightly different every year, sometimes there’s an X.8, sometimes we don’t get up to X.7, but it’s usually about the same every year.

In my opinion (which nobody asked for), I believe iOS needs an entire overhaul. It’s really becoming too bloated, with simple actions and menus taking more and more taps to get to. Settings is the worst example of this but there are so many. It’s all becoming too cluttered and confusing.

This is me and and my wife right now, holding on to 14.8.1 until further notice hehe!
I have yet to see some consecutive "this update runs great on my <insert iphone model>!" on iOS 15, the beta version of iOS 16!

:/

I hope we see that overhaul, as its stand now all the various things one has to disable as far as your apps having access to Bluetooth, Siri & Search, Notifications, Background App refreshes and more is annoying. I mean I like having settings but not so much enabled. I've turned off so many notifications to get it the way I want.

I have been running the latest Dev builds on all my devices. Minor issues if any. Not sure where all the complaints are from. At lot of issues are probably with your apps, not the actual OS. My constant ‘issues’ are previews in Messages for links and sharing via the share sheet where there is long delays when pulling contacts.

I've tried this until I upgraded devices. i.e. I had to go to iOS 15 (which runs great on my iPhone 11) when I purchased an Apple Watch 7.

iOS 15 is hot garbage?
It's totally fugly on my iPad mini. Stupidest margin widths, shrunken widget column width for NO BENEFIT. Why make THAT smaller? Beyond stupid.

Shrunken Home Screen icons and icon grid, because of stupid margin expansion. Everything is cramped and looks like it's in a constant state of a panic attack.

Permanent icon for Safari extensions IN the nav bar! Stupid placement.
Dicey ability to get in and out of private browsing mode. Still can't figure it out. The private option was hidden/moved and it makes less sense now.

Still no ability to turn off the idiotic multitouch keyboard hidden nav/shortcuts (whatever that's called...been there since ..geez.. iOS 12? 13?). Hate that. I hit it too often when I'm typing and it destroys whatever it typed because I don't know what it is, and i can't turn it off! The stupid thing where you press and hold two keys on opposite sides of the on screen keyboard to do...."something clever". "Clever" is always "stupid" because developers aren't as smart as they hink they are.

So yes, iOS 15 is a visual train wreck.
