For some reason, the stable release was buggier on MacOS than it was in any of the Dev Betas. I am hoping for bug fixes.

Can I just point out the absurdity of an independently scrolling text box on this screen? Is that update available box a fixed size or something? If yes - why? Nowhere else in Settings is there an independently scrollable text box.

Rant over. Who knows? Maybe 26.1 fixes this specific issue.

That was quick! I bet 26.1 includes a way to disable that "liquid glass" feature that is polarizing the Apple community.
Just give me the option to disable all the Liquid Glass nonsense and I’ll be happy. This isn’t a huge ask.
Just give us a toggle in the Display control panel, Apple. It’s ok for people giving you money to not be 100% onboard with your “bold new vision.”
On iOS 26, Settings | Accessibility | Display & Text Size | Reduce Transparency -> On

That doesn't get rid of the moving/shifting lit borders around widgets and icons, which is what I'm waiting for.

..and please see my other post why "reduce transparency" is still full of bugs. I have seen several buttons where the text just completely disappears when enabling.

Then turn reduce motion on.

Hopefully, 16.1 would address those bugs. My #1 bug is Apple Maps turning black.

Maybe it will also sneak in Digital Passport ID.

The borders are still there, and as I said, "reduce transparency" still buggy as hell. How about just an option to disable liquid glass?
I don't think that's happening. Like iOS 7 before it, Apple will continuously tune Liquid Glass, as well as fix Reduce Transparency bugs.

I find some of the reactions to Apple’s iOS 26.1 Beta a bit strange. It’s a developer-focused release — if you’re not a developer, there’s really no rush to install it. And honestly, rather than jumping straight to complaints, it might be better to take some time to explore and understand the tools you already have. The way iOS 26 looks is customisable — don’t like the glass effect? Just turn it off. The new app icons are cleaner and smarter, and overall, there’s plenty of flexibility for users to customise them to their liking. Users have more control than ever to personalise their experience.

Oh, I'll add that I am running 26 across iPhones, iPads, and Macs of various persuasions, from the first beta to the current release, with very few, if any, issues... working like a dream. Personal and business use... Some people just aren't happy!

Apple, despite the criticism last year, seems to have its act together this year. Try owning a Samsung... Android releases are a nightmare... and Google Play service updates are hit or miss...

Imagine if Apple had taken the beta phase seriously. Instead of releasing a new version every two weeks, they waited four weeks. Just like developers of Ubuntu, LinuxMint or Windows do. And simply postponed the release by a few weeks.

Everyone would be happy about a much more bug-free upgrade, instead of now having to "looking forward" for new updates to fix the bugs.

I know! That would be so innovative and special, you would be able to call it “think different”.
