Apple today seeded the first betas of upcoming iOS 26.2 and iPadOS 26.2 updates to developers for testing purposes, with the software coming a day after Apple released iOS 26.1 and iPadOS 26.1.

Registered developers can download the betas from the Settings app on the iPhone or iPad by going to the General section and selecting Software Update.

We don't yet know what's included in the new beta software, but given that these updates will be tested over the holiday period, Apple may be planning to focus on bug fixes and performance improvements rather than adding notable new features.

When we learn what's new in the updates, we'll share details.

iOS 26.2 and iPadOS 26.2 are limited to developers at the current time, but Apple will likely release a public beta in the next couple of days.

26.1 improved battery significantly over 26.0.1. Would be awesome if 26.2 is even better but I doubt it. I guess we will know in a day or so. I'm holding off on trying it because i'm in love with my battery life on my 17 pro right now lol.

I think I will un-enroll from the public beta on my iPad, don't really want to do the weekly or so updates. Nothing is broken and performance and stability are good for me, I'm quite happy with 26.1 on all my devices

I’m waiting for iOS 29 when Apple Intelligence will be useful.
Don't you mean iOS 30? Apple Intelligence, when released, will need 1 year to resolve all the software bugs thus it will be iOS 30 before it is useful for the masses

Welcome to Macrumors - the comments on this site are more negative towards Apple than most android sites 😂
Apple intentionally slighted them by discontinuing (some Apple product/service they really enjoyed). There’s NOTHING Apple can ever do right in their eyes other than
Releasing a new version of (whatever), OR
Cease to exist. ;)
