If you 'upgrade' to this 6.1 release and then backup to iCloud, you will not be able to restore your new device with your backup which is what I plan on doing tomorrow.

Basically, I want my 4th gen to look just like my 3rd gen so I plan on restoring it from backup. Unless 6.1 comes preloaded on the 4th gen (doubt it), it wont let me restore from my previous iPad backup.

Just a free word of warning if you are in the same boat as me.

Yes, backup on 6.0.1 and then turn off icloud backup. You should only use iTunes to backup on 6.1 and make a copy of the 6.0.1 backup from there too. Just in case there is an iCloud issue.

As I've readed through the thread, I've found 3 types of ppl here.

1) Screaming around and hating changes, what's been made to iOS since iOS6. (Maps, translucent status bar, FB & Twitter integration).

2) Those who found Safari "snappier" and/or still missing battery improvements.

3 Those who trying to explain that:

a) If you don't like the changes, you can always downgrade (unless you have latest iOS device or sell it and switch)

b) Maps won't come back, try to live with that or referer to 3a.

c) If there will nothing like FB/Twitter integration in iOS - you all will be hating Apple why, it's still missing.

People, please wake up...

Dont you guys see that 6.1 doesnt bring any new features??

Android 4.2 brought a lot of new features.

Apple used to add features in .1, .2 releases, like on iOS 4.1 and 4.2.

5.1 last year only brought japanese to Siri. No other features...

Is Apple gonna make us wait until iOS 7 again for new features???????

The first beta of an update thats been out for what, 3 or 4 hours, and you're already whining? Thats pretty impressive, and by impressive, I mean asinine.

You may be right, but this is the first beta and not a public release

And, your point is? iOS isn't for "checkbox" people. Those people have long since moved to Android.

What happens with iOS between now and next Fall isn't as important as what will happen afterwards- when Ive's work on the fundamental design of iOS is likely going to be on display in iOS 7. Until then, people know what they're getting into with iOS 6- almost the same thing as iOS 5. For many people, like me, that's just fine. Your mileage may vary, and that's why Android and WP8 exist.

That's on Facebook's server side...even people on older versions of iOS are getting non-stop crashing. Battery life is fantastic. A software update that doesn't improve it for you shouldn't be considered a "screw up" lol.

It's unprofessional that a software update makes some apps unusable to some people? Interesting.

No, it's unprofessional that the [Facebook] developers have access to the update and yet do not work to ensure their app will function properly.

reading logic 101 :)

(this is assuming it is related to iOS 6.0.1+, as many now attest Facebook has suddenly experienced issues at the exact same time these update(s) were released)
