Ugh. I could never use Night Shift. I deeply value my colour accuracy.

But it's a good feature for those who don't.

I value color accuracy too but it is not always essential. I can say from personal experience that when working at night on things that don't require accuracy, reading news or coding, I find using flux or Night Shift help me to relax and get to sleep more quickly.

Yeah, that's about where I am on it. I can't stand the color shift, I turn it off whenever I have to touch a device using it.

I can't stand colored sunglasses either, neutral gray is a requirement for me.

I don't use Night Shift at sunset for this reason. However, I do activate Night Shift after 10 p.m., when I shouldn't be looking at screens anyway. It helps get me ready to sleep by midnight. Really looking forward to having it on the Mac. Tried f.lux but didn't really like the way it is tied to sunrise/sunset times.

So it has sunset to sunset like flux and not just a time based setting like iOS. That is great. If it does the transition slowly as the sun sets, like flux, then it would do everything I like flux for.
It can be based on sunrise and sunset in iOS as well.

I tried using f.lux but I just didn't like the effect it had on the monitor.
I tried Iris, which is better than f.lux but it is a little buggy.
I bought a pair of Gunnar computer glasses but wish I didn't have to wear them as glasses annoy my sinuses
I welcome Night Shift and hope it works better.

Unless they have precise kelvin adjustments, its useless. I.use flux if i have to record a screen using a camera.

For exampl, if the room has 3000k lights, i set the camera's white balance to 3000k and then i set the screen to 3000k with flux. Very specialized usage, I know

Wow. Somehow I got it in my mind that it was only time based. Was it always like that? Does it do a slow transition as the sun sets?
The option was always there from the beginning. It's not a slow transition, works about the same as the time based one taking about a minute to come on (or off).

Unfortunately doesn't appear to work on external Apple displays like 27" Cinema Display. Back to f.Lux I guess

I'm on a 2012 MBP with 27" Cinema Display attached; works here.
time based or sunset based, configurable intensity

Tried mine on a Mac Pro with the 27" external Cinema Display and in Display tab (prefs) don't see any option for night shift. Also seeing the same thing on a 2011 MBP.

If there is a particular option or setting you are using please share.

Maybe they could fix the bug in Finder copy that was introduced in 10.12.3. Prior to that release, on a file by file basis, you could set the file not to be source for any Time Machine backup, but if copied then Time Machine would back up the copy.

Now, in 10.12.3, neither file is backed up.

Example under the old scheme; large VM (55+GB) that you wouldn't want to back up as the whole file would be backed up every time TM ran. But you could take periodic copy to anywhere else and that copy was backed up. In 10.12.3, you have to play with TM options, particularly if you change target of copy.

Hmm... the only thing i can think of: did you disable/switch the f.lux color profile?

Hmm, my 2016 15" MBP is hanging at 10 minutes remaining, has been sitting for ~20 minutes. Anyone else having install issues? It's a dev machine, so no big deal if it gets a factory reset.

I will probably continue using f.lux. They have so much experience on this.
f.lux on my mac is way better than the apple's toggle on my ipad.

F.lux is just about the buggiest, popular Mac utility in existence today. Can't wait to get Night Shift.

So far on my Mac:

- 2 finger swipe (to get to the previous page) isn’t working any more
- Mail crashed
- using of PDF files in preview app is still unreliable

I love(d) f.lux, but have to agree with you. Flashes of white, app dissappearing from the menu, etc.. i'm on the beta now. Th eonly think i feel is missing is the fine grained setting; i used that, but i'll see if i really going to miss it.

Yes just disabled it, stopped it from loading at startup and rebooted, same thing :(
The app only, or also the color profile (in display settings)?
