Awesome, I'll wait for a more stable build before upgrading both of my Macs. I'll probably just wait until 10.11.2 at this point.

Other than Mail unable to connect to an Exchange server without a VPN connection established first, El Capitan GM has been fine for me. But... that's a pretty big bug. Hopefully addressed in .1

Apple's rushing things again... There goes QC...

I disagree, releasing more betas does not mean QC is automatically bad. iOS 9 and El Cap has been the best releases of iOS and OS X for me in the last 5 years alone. iOS 9.1 is already a big jump over iOS 9.0 GM for me in performance and it seems more smoother.

If anything, I think Apple has changed it does QC this year, making it easier for them to release more betas quicker to get more feedback.

Where can you get it?? Im supposedly in the dev. program but I only got the GM in app store.

Question for you guys. Currently am a developer. Have 10.11 GM installed on my machine. With this machine that is far as I want to go with it. Do not want to put anymore betas on it. In the App Store there is as update for 10.11.1. Anyway to remove this? So it is not asking me to put betas on anymore? Just on this machine. I only want to be asked to put the final version of 10.11 on when it gets released on the 30th. Any help is appreciated. Thanks :)

Of course not, but this beta implies that the GM candidate will be the final release. I don't think it's ready.

I suppose Apple could just release a newer final build on the 30th, like they did with iOS 9. But last year we got 3 GM candidates.

I am old. I am very professional at work (have to be because of public perception). But I am excited about the opportunity of a 'middle finger' emoji.

That sounds strange - since you have to install a specific Seed utility to be able to be offered the 10.11.1 beta..

Nothing was offered on my 10.11 GM until seed config!

You will have to send a mail to Apple to opt out of the beta seed program on your current machine most likely, unless there is a manual way to do it your self (which I don't know because I've never tried). It sounds like you have at one point, registered to be in the 10.x.x beta seed program which anyone can join.

Send a mail to Apple about it, they might fix it for you if the update notification is bothering you. Keep in mind that your Mac might download the update automatically, if it does there is no way back so hurry to send them a mail.

I have zero issues with GM seed, which is rare but unfortunately, there is never going to be a flawless final release. I rather Apple release the GM as it is and do a quick follow up in 10.10.1 to find all issues people will report on the first day.

As for your example with Yosemite GM, Yosemite was a massive disaster on the first day even after 3 GM seeds, so having more GM seeds doesn't help neither.

So, the reality is, Apple just need to find more QA people and test it throughly. Releasing more or less GM or betas makes no impact on the final quality level.

Try system preferences > App Store. I remember in some of the older versions of os x there was a button to stop receiving pre-release software

I suppose this is true. I am coming from a selfish desire for another GM build because for me, 10.11 is worse than any of Yosemite GM builds (but even so I wouldn't call it a massive disaster.) If 10.11.1b doesn't solve my main issue I will likely have to downgrade to Yosemite which I'd rather not do.

It is downloading very slow and the remaining time jumps every second between 3 and more than 10 hours. :(

Edit: MacRumors seems to be very slow at the moment too. Any one else noticed that? Has nothing to do with my update download. I have 50 Mbit/s downstream and every other site is loading immediately.

Weird. Thought we'd get another GM candidate first.
Definitely weird. There were 3 last year with Yosemite. Somehow unusual to start with point updates before 10.11.0 is released.

So I've downloaded it (606MB) but put it on hold for 1h. Now doing a TM backup of the GM installation first before I'll allow it to install.
