Finally! - This has been all I've wanted for a long time.
I don't know anything about this but I thought the whole point of homepod was that you didn't need stereo pairs because of all the spatial processing. I remember Apple going on and on about "one homepod is all you need".

What about the Display issues many of us are having. Apple needs to respond to this as its been a long time and people are very frustrated. Not need to mention the issues with running apps that are from 3 party vendors for schools, corporate offices and Dj's.
Have you used Apple's service to report issues or are you just waiting for them to fix something? Not everything is a priority especially if it's not something all customers would be affected by.

Maybe I'm missing something, but before Apple Silicon was announced, didn't Tim Cook say that IOS apps would also be running on Intel Macs soon? Or was that just a trick of words?
I think you’re mixing the Apple Silicon Macs’ capabilities with project catalyst.

Project catalyst automatically recompiles iOS apps for macOS, (it will show up as a Mac app,) while Apple silicon can run any iOS app whether it’s been optimized for Mac or not.

at least they're making progress. With big sur being an architecture transition OS im not surprised it's got bugs. a new UI design and apple silicon in one release I think they should have split those up. Gave us Catalinas UI and done the big user-facing changes later this year in 2021

my photos APP keeps dying every time I open it with my iPhone 12 Max connected to import a picture.

I'm still on Big Sur 11.1

Big Sur IS A BIG PIECE OF CRAP!

can't even transfer pictures from your phone.

APPLE keeps getting worse and worse with LEMMON operating systems every NEW OS that comes out

The GOOD programmers all left APPLE for better jobs and the Pre School programmers are left.
I can't believe how BAD Big Sur is. And Tim Cook makes Millions!

Update: I updated to 11.2. SAME PROBLEM. the minute I unlock my trusted device with my passcode to import pictures to the photo's APP the APP CRASHES!

If I could SWEAR I would. This is just plain stupid. 2 updates. Same problem.

I know what the future is! Staying Intel Mac. Going Back to Catalina.

And Heavily investing in Windows 10 software. Windows 10 and PC's are where all the PRO Users will BE

Not on wimpy ARM Machines !

PS. i9 MacBook Pro is STILL KING over M1. Here is Proof.

Everything's been working great on my M1 MacBook Air. I routinely transfer photos from my iPhone to my MBA for processing in Lightroom. Works great. Every App I've opened works flawlessly. And fast. Including X-Plane.

Maybe you should schedule some time at the Genius Bar? Or perhaps a neighbor kid?

Do you ever thought it might be your phone and not the actual big Sur operating system maybe you need to do a hardware reset on your phone reinstall the software. Ever done a fresh install from a USB onto your computer I do it every year instead of upgrading never have any problems not even with Betas. Have have you even bothered to call Apple and get support because maybe it’s something you’re doing wrong.

A single point of audio propagation doesn't make a good immersive experience in a room, unless you buy into the iPodHiFi theory of Jobs where his device had the speakers way too close together. :)

Can everyone request Apple to fix bluetooth audio in the upcoming update?
My Bluetooth portable speaker is experiencing cracking sound when Magic Mouse is connected to the laptop since Catalina.

+1 What a relief to finally have support for stereo paired HomePods in Mac OS. I'm currently able stream from Roon to my stereo paired HomePods, but occasionally the music gets out of sync. It still amazes me that Apple so long to add this feature to MacOS. I just hope it doesn't get pulled from the final version of Big Sur 11.3.
I’m confused, I’ve had stereo pairs of original HomePods since way back when. Is this just about bringing it to HomePod minis?

Yeah, I just saw your 3 replies. But still, my question wasn’t about the issue. I know mail has been having issues on iOS and macOS for ages.

My question was simple: if Apple didn’t solve it on Mojave, Catalina or Big Sur, what makes you think macOS 11.3 will be the good one?

I know hope is the last think we lose but regarding that issue, if it wasn’t solved in 2 or even 6 years (on your previous reply you mention the year 2015) what makes 11.3 so special? I don’t get it. Don’t get your hopes up man

PS: but yeah, I wish they fix as many bugs as they can, of course.

Yes I spoke with many Apple Reps from the Genius Bar to online Support and its more than half of the population who is experiencing the same Display issues around the world not just in the US.

Another vote for Display issues. I know there are lots of folks that aren't affected by this but for some of us, this is as annoying as the Bluetooth issues were.
Not 'were' but *are* - I am still having bluetooth issues on my MacBook Air M1 - my brand new Apple Keyboard & Magic Mouse 2, the thick end of $200 worth of kit - repeatedly and all too frequently just disconnect. :(

Other than that I'm very happy with the M1 range - I have a Mac mini M1 too - I use them mainly wit Davinci Resolve and MAN what a difference - before this I had a hex core 3GHz Mac mini at 32Gb of RAM and 1TB of SSD, and en 8Gb RX580 eGPU - not a great experience!

wow, that's a rant. But for the record, if you are not getting bug fixes fixed because you are on outdated software, that does not mean that Big Sur is the crap here

I've been using it on Apple Music for a long time, and I understand it is embedded in Apple TV+ as well. A shame Spotify doesn't hie good programmers, then it would have worked there a long time ago as well. But now I guess it does

Are you talking about external displays? Go to Settings/Display and check the color shift settings and the color profile settings. Took me 3 seconds to fix

Got the M1 Air today (build 20C69); wife set it up with her fingerprint during initial setup. We locked the screen and she used her fingerprint to unlock. Yay! Then we locked the screen and i placed my finger---and it unlocked?!? 100% reproducible. Only one registered fingerprint. Is this a statistical fluke or a big security hole?

I honestly don't know what the whining is about. Notifications on Mail work just fine for me. I normally don't use it, but I turned it on to see what complaining was about, and yo - it is working great. Mystery

Apple really needs to fix this... I've had a ticket open with them since November.

No video (audio only) when streaming DRM content in Safari and Apple TV App. I'm not the only one having this issue either.

Sure I can use Chrome but I really don't like to have to do that...
weird, I just checked it, its working fine. So many of these "issues" that people post are just malarky. It begs the question if these are real issues or not. Full disclosure, I did have a problem earlier today with safari crashing, so I figured I had some outdated files or something from all the betas and what not I have been running, so I did a clean install. Normally just do one once a year, but I had issues. Fixed em. And with iCloud its not even a burden, just keep my data backed up to the cloud, I only download apps as I need them, so the whole process is very quick (UNLIKE MAINTENANCE on a certain os called Windows).

So if your a ranting an a ravin, maybe a clean install is warranted, especially if it has been awhile

He said that Catalyst apps would become available to third parties which you may be remembering, and demoed how iPad apps needed very little tweaking to become “Catalyst” macOS apps. It required a separate binary for macOS specifically and was essentially just your run of the mill mac app in the end. Because of the effort on the developer, it’s only really more of a thing now because not only can you just run an iOS app entirely natively, developers have to get off their ass and into X Code anyway to add native ARM support.

I would hardly categorize my posting as a "rant". Also, something to consider, just because something isn't affecting you doesn't mean it isn't affecting others.

And, for the record, I've done several clean installs.
