Apple today seeded the fourth beta of an upcoming macOS Sierra 10.12.5 update to developers, one week after seeding the third beta and one month after releasing macOS Sierra 10.12.4, which introduced Night Shift for the Mac.

The fourth beta of macOS Sierra 10.12.5 can be downloaded through the Apple Developer Center or through the Software Update mechanism in the Mac App Store.

According to the release notes accompanying the beta, the update "improves the stability, compatibility, and security of your Mac."

Apple's release notes don't often provide a lot of insight into what's included in new beta software, so we don't know what features or bug fixes might be included in the 10.12.5 update.

No notable changes or major bug fixes were discovered in the first three betas, but should anything pop up in the fourth macOS Sierra 10.12.5 beta, we'll update this post.

Update: Apple has also provided the fourth beta of macOS Sierra 10.12.5 to public beta testers.

Download progress bar stuck in App store, yet softwareupdated process still downloads, must be a bug.

Edit: Weird update, I closed App store, opened it again, pushed the update button, greyed out button, nothing happened for several minutes, clicked the Updates Tab, started to search for updates, pushed the Update all button and now it asked to be restarted.

My MacBook Pro with Touch Bar has video issues which have not been fixed. When I watch YouTube the screen sometimes changes colour (viewing stays perfectly possible), but the screen gets more grey and after 2 seconds it's normal again.

And why is that?
Sierra was one hell of a stable OS when released, the next one might be the same or better.

Mmm, Sierra has been very stable for me overall – using it on several different Macs. Hope it continues that way with future MacOS releases.

Another suppressive release. They killed Handbrake. What next?
  1. It's a Beta. There are no 'releases' of macOS 10.12.5 yet.
  2. HandBrake works fine for me and apparently other people in the forum
  3. It's a Developers Preview and something tells me that you are not much of a developer if you feel you needed to throw a fit that an app is not working on your primary Mac (of which you shouldn't be installing this preview on)
EDIT: BTW you probably shouldn't try the public beta either

Just realized I've been stuck on 10.12.1 beta and haven't been able to update via the App Store.
