How to update remote ?!?

To manually update the remote firmware, after an OS restore of tvOS 9.2 Beta 4 using iTunes:

Open the Settings app and navigate to the Remotes and Devices > Remote menu. With Remote selected, press the Play/Pause button four times to begin the update, which will take about 10 minutes to complete. The remote battery level must be at 25% or higher for the update to begin. You can monitor the progress of the update using Xcode in the Apple TV device console. Once the update is complete, the version number in Settings > Remotes and Devices > Remote will read 0x0245.

However there is a known issue with this.

After performing an Over The Air update to tvOS 9.2 Beta 4, you may have to wait 24 hours to manually update the Apple TV Remote firmware. Hopefully this will be fixed before public release.

Why is iTunes on Apple TV so awful? Seriously. I don't understand it. It's the equivalent of System 7. Plex is OS X.

For example, I bought a box set of the first six series of The Big Bang Theory. It's not even split into seasons. It's one enormous horizontal list of well over 100 episodes.

Future of TV my arse.

Not 100% sure but I think prior to this Beta the Computers app used to list each season of each TV show in one long list. Now it lists just TV show and then a sub menu for Season...

I like my Apple TV but I agree it is a little quirky / buggy. I've noticed the same thing with the Walking Dead, one massive row of episodes rather than being broken into 6 seasons.

I've also noticed a lot of glitches. I've had to unplug and re-plug the power cord about every other week to reset the unit when it started acting up. For instance, last night when I went to "purchased TV shows" on iTunes, I would just get a white screen with the loading animation for several minutes. If I went to other screens such as movies or Netflix, everything worked OK so it wasn't my internet connection. After reseting the unit by removing power it began working normally again.

Can anyone check to see if they have fixed the bug with Play Counts for Music not being synced on the Apple TV 4 yet? I use my Apple TV to play my iTunes collection via Home Sharing and it works fine on Apple TV 2nd and 3rd Gen but 4th Gen doesn't update the last played date and play count when you play music.

Don't think they ever said iTunes was the future of TV?

"According to Apple, "Apps are the future of television"".

And Plex is one of them Apps (one I also use and enjoy).

I'd use Plex if it updated the Play Counts in iTunes. All of my media is organised in iTunes and it feeds my Apple TV, iPhone, iPod etc. Smartplaylists play a massive role in organising my listening.

I only use Plex for watching video when away from home so this isn't something I do myself... But you could use a service like Last FM to sync your plays plays with iTunes.

I'd be careful (backup) before trying these as your Play Counts are important to your listening.

The safer/easier option is probably just AirPlaying audio to the Apple TV.

I did try the Airplay option for a while but the interface was shocking (the screensaver kept popping in, album art was sometimes from the previously played song, all control had to be done via the ipad remote app and not the apple tv remote etc.) and the music sounded a bit lossy and not as rich as when I did Home Sharing.

Really awesome. Firmware update is a great progress. It improved motion sensor performance and support for additional sound bar and receiver hardware, which means that I can play more sport games and listen to stereo sound and music.

Where can i find a download for this please? I have registered my UDID for my apple TV 4 but can't find the file to install.

When oh when are they finally going to extend Siri support to the rest of the world? Why have I been able to use Siri on my phone for years, yet still can't use Siri on my Swiss account?

I wish Apple add an app like Plex that can play mp4, mkv, avi and support shared folders without itunes.
Well it is not mafe by Apple but give Infuse a try, as far as i know it supports both mkv and avi containers so uness the strams within are some strange codec it'll play. An exstra bonus is that it outputs encoded audio (ie dums the audi bitstram unchanged to hdmi so your amp can do the decoding (dolby ma etc)), and if the macine you want to acces happens to be on another subnet you can add it manualy with the ip so you are not stock with lack of nerbios/wins broadcast

I see plex beeing mentiond a few times, an while good it is'nt realy what realeric ssks about, plex is a media server and if i read his post correctly he just wants to accces (and of caose play) files from a shared folder from his atv4. I don't see the need for the added overhead of a media erver app in this case, if he waned to stream his media across the internet while nor at home plex is great.
