Other than your obtuse/condescending intro, I think you're almost there. Keep talking and you might finally get it...not sure what you’re talking about...

I have used my drivers license several times recently: to pick up a package, for ID to purchase a drink at an event, to test drive and purchase two vehicles, among many others. That’s all I’ve used mine for recently. I can’t remember the last time I had to show it to someone.
I agree. I know that many people are against digital driver's licenses because of privacy (don't want to hand over their phone to a cop), which is fair, but I also look forward to the day when my phone is the only thing I need when I leave the house.I desperately want a digital driver's license so I can ditch my wallet, but my state is so ass-backwards that it will probably be another decade.
I'd hardly even call their opinion fair at this point. For something that is completely optional right now, there isn't much of a privacy issue. Don't opt in to it; it's that simple. And, it's also been stated many times that there is no handoff of your phone to anyone. Your phone doesn't leave your hand.I agree. I am with you on both, I would love to not need a wallet, but I am not thrilled at the thought of handing the phone to a cop....or anybody else for that matter.I agree. It would be handy at a bar or liquor store, or would be handy when dealing with the TSA where they have approved scanners (and will be dealing with a LOT of it in assembly line fashion). But yeah, I’d ALWAYS bring my physical license when driving. Never give your phone to a cop.I am with you on both, I would love to not need a wallet, but I am not thrilled at the thought of handing the phone to a cop....or anybody else for that matter.
It is currently handy on the railroad (New Jersey transit) where you buy tickets online and activate them as needed. The app will give a QR code that the train employee scans with their scanner. and like you said, at the airport with boarding passes. For driver licenses, I would expect no less than the system will generate a QR code that the officer will scan with a handheld scanner and the phone will still stay locked and in the drivers hand.It would be handy at a bar or liquor store, or would be handy when dealing with the TSA where they have approved scanners (and will be dealing with a LOT of it in assembly line fashion).
