And TVOS. Where's the love for WatchOS today?

Didn't scroll to earlier posts. ;)

I'm a bit confused on this External Display support business, I keep reading conflicting information.
1) Is External Display support disabled for ALL iPads on iPadOS 16.1, even when not using Stage Manager? (This is my experience with a 4th Gen iPad Pro).
OR
2) Is External Display Support only supposed to be disabled when using Stage Manager?

You can see they are allowing stage manager to work with external displays with IpadOS 16.2 beta 4 per notes. 16.1 had comments about a future version of iPadOS 16.x would do that.

Stage Manager

Resolved in iOS & iPadOS 16.2 beta 4

  • While using Stage Manager with an External Display, dragging a second window to the workspace incorrectly hides the Recent Apps list—shifting all windows in the workspace to the right. (98540114)

Right, but since upgrading to iPadOS 16, external displays are not working on my iPad at all. Doesn’t matter if I’m using stage manager or not.

Gee, does this one finally give us the glaring omission people have been asking for for 15 years: notifications of missed calls?

"and it causes the Home app not to work with devices updated to iOS 16.2, iPadOS 16.2, or macOS Ventura 13.1."

typo? I am pretty sure it causes the Home app to not work with devices that are NOT updated to those. or, to put it in clearer terms, it will only work with devices updated to 16.2. or am I missing something?

Hopefully this fixes the stock camera app shaking and buzzing when you zoom in when filming in 4k 60fps….pretty frustrating….

updating Homekit to new beta architecture wasn't smooth for me, (well its beta) , After 16.2 beta 4 upgrade to all my home hubs (HomePod mini and apple TV 4k, immediate most of my smart devices displayed the dreaded (no response) issues, resetting every device and reconnecting to homekit didn't work, but its working fine with their specific app like Hue Philips, leviton App, Wemo etc. Finally deleting Homekit altogether and start new from scratch solves the issues, so far new homekit architecture performance feels smoother and faster, Siri feels a lot more reponsive imho, can't wait for the finish product.

Huh. External display support is certainly better than it was back in the summer, but bug-free it is not.

A minor example: the Apple TV app had to be resized to see a video playing on an external display.
Of more concern: the Photos app is buggy and inconsistent about when the chrome overlay displays.

I continue to be excited for this change. It has unlocked the iPad as a “real computer” for me, but it is still rough around the edges.

I suspect that we will see 16.2.1 very quickly and hope that Apple keeps clearing bugs and putting out updates at a regular cadence. (Monthly, at least.)
