I have been testing on a 2015 15in MBP. Compatibility has been excellent so far, but it has been slow whenever prompting for administrator privileges. That could be due to it being a beta.
So far so good for me here. Only one app that hasn't been updated for Big Sur yet, but I already knew that. I'm a happy guy today.

WOW.

Today is my first experience with Big Sur. I wanted to wait until the RC or final release was out because I know that 3rd party developers would be ready to release their updates, should I have any problem. My biggest concerns were with Adobe Creative Cloud (specifically Audition) as well as Drobo Desktop for my Drobo 5D connected to my 2019 MacBook Pro. No issues there.

So far, I'm blown away. I also seemed to gain a TON of disk space. Maybe Big Sur went to Jenny Craig?

It looks awesome, and so far zero issues after a few hours of playing with it and testing critical apps I use.

The only thing that so far hasn't worked as well as I had hoped is the AirPod Pro switching between my iPad Pro, iPhone 11 Pro, and Mac. It seems to want to work when it wants to.

But *finally* I have 4K YouTube videos in Safari without having to switch over to Chrome. Thank God.
is funny you should say about Drobo 5D. I have one attached to my 2014 Mac mini as I use this as my server and backup destination. I won't update the server at all and will leave it on Catalina as I am concerned about the 5D not working. Would be interested with how you get on with it.

Thanks. How does it compare to Chrome?
I prefer it over Chrome. It’s one of those things where you have to *feel* it to understand.

To be fair, it’s been a while since I’ve used macOS so much for a long time. Mostly iOS/iPadOS and Windows (work). But I’ve been using my new iMac a lot lately, and tried Safari, Chrome and Edge.

The only thing, so far, that isn’t perfect is that it doesn’t have sync abilities with my idevices for passwords, history etc. Well, afaik.

Cool, thanks for that, I might give it a try sometime.

Many people may not upgrade for a while, due to compatibility reasons or ‘just waiting’ & corporates will often take a very conservative approach to upgrading to new versions of macOS - so this makes sense.

Last time round, it didn't offer the final realease when that came out, I had to wait for the next minor. And now since I already are on 11.0.1b, suspect I won't get any upgrades before 11.0.2, but that's just me guessing. :)
I am also on the latest beta (20b5022a). If the final version is offered to us, do we have to download and do a fresh install on the entire OS or is it just a delta update (i.e 4gb or something).

And if we then decided to skip that, would we be able to get to 11.0.2 as a delta update from this beta or we have no choice but to unenroll and install the full 12gb release OS to get back on the right "track"?

Thanks

In my (somewhat limited) experience, if you got the 11.0.1b, and then unenrolled from the beta track, you will not be offered the "final" 11.0.0 version, nor the 11.0.1 (since we already have it, in 11.0.1b), and will only get the 11.0.2 (or higher) once that is released, as a delta.

This is based on how it was last year (with the Catalina beta).

We don't know if 11.0 will be the final release version. It's not likely it will be; there's probably a version of 11.0 that Apple called final so they could start installing an OS on Apple Silicon Macs and which will be updated to 11.0.1 as soon as they arrive to customers.

I made a USB install device with this version. Do you guys think this would be a good one to do a clean install with? I have a ton of space taken on my new Mini and I think it was form an earlier build. I need to erase the drive and start over.

If you’re gonna do that, I’d personally wait until the official release. Should just be a few days now...

Yeah I suppose you're right. I just only have 130GB left on a brand new computer with a 1TB drive. It's showing 250TB taken for "Other" which I assume must be some other partition made or OS stuff from a beta.

Yeah, most likely files that are still being categorized. Happens on iOS & iPadOS, too. I’d say wait a day or so after updating to whatever official release comes out (if it’s different than the current RC), and then just install over it.

No issues at all since I upgrade to Big Sur. I'm using a 2019 MacBook Pro with Apple's USB-C dongle and have been moving files around as I did before, no problem!

I am running 11.0.1 Beta (20B5022a) and it's so buggy
Been running public beta for about 6 weeks now, with out to many problems, well until now.
Keeps crashing loting me out. Apps crash every 10 - 20 min even Apples apps.

Has anyone else having the same problem?

Surprised to not see anyone else post so wondering if its a local problem. Anyone else having issues using Google Hangouts with Safari that comes with Big Sur? For at least the last 3 or more betas. When I login to google hangouts, I can see and others can hear me.. but the audio I receive from others is all choppy and broken up.

When I than launch Chrome and google hangouts, no issues. Curious if anyone else is having issues with Safari and google hangouts working properly.

It was a bit slow for me after installing the update but it getting better don't exactly how. Safari has been buggy for me since the last beta same has this one so I am currently using the Tech Preview. I had a few crashes but seems ok now.

UPDATE:

Safari Tech Preview still crashing, probably never stop since I only use safari for normal browsing which can be a few minutes per session.

The gestures videos in Trackpad are now available (seams like Apple is wrapping up) they should be a new beta soon, just guessing 😃

Oops! just visited the front page...

Do you remember if you were getting the kexts warning or whatever that warning is that says future versions of macOS may not be compatible with the Drobo? I too have a large amount of data on my drobo (running Plex Server on my Mini) and it would be no good to suddenly not be able to use the Drobo on it. Asking because I'm wondering if there is an update that I'm not getting, or maybe the warning was just a 'may not' rather than 'will not'.
