Apple today seeded the release candidate version of an upcoming macOS Monterey 12.4 update to developers for testing purposes, with the new update coming a week after the release of the fourth macOS Monterey 12.4 beta.

Registered developers can download the beta through the Apple Developer Center and after the appropriate profile is installed, betas will be available through the Software Update mechanism in System Preferences.

When paired with a Studio Display, macOS Monterey 12.4 supports new 15.5 Studio Display firmware, which improves the quality of the webcam on the machine. According to Apple's release notes, the Studio Display firmware refines camera tuning, offering improved noise reduction, contrast, and framing.

There's also an update for the Podcasts app, with Apple adding a setting that limits the number of episodes stored on a Mac and automatically deletes older ones.

Universal control in 12.3.1 won't let me align my iPad on top of my MacBook for some reason. Did they fix it for this update?

About time. Version 12.3.1 is killing my battery and Mac. It's operating really hot all the time and the battery indicator shows ANY open application (that uses internet) as "Using significant energy". I saw the exact same behavior with other MB Pro 2019 (but 15" not 13"). So not sure if somewhat limited to this year. I have not seen anyone complaining here.

Usage below is just Safari....

You the mvp thanks for the info this is always the question I have for each update. Build number, kernel version, firmware/osloader version.

So basically, developers are flying blind because Apple can't be bothered to provide information that would make their lives (and ours) easier.
Its why we have these threads to discuss whats not mentioned. ;)

I still see Disk Utility unexpectedly quitting, send data to Apple. It happens when I do a unmounted group volume erase of a external HDD (USB-A) using a USB-A to USB-C dongle. (M1 and M1 Max Macs)
