If I remember correctly the 15.6 RC firmware was listed in the Dev. Portal. Sonoma and older are never listed there anymore. There is only the final 15.6 now.

I wonder why they don't even list new versions for Sonoma if even this is in there:

And they even kept the 17.7.6 RC among older release versions:

💡 Reminder to turn off automatic updates after installing 15.7, for all who don't want UX bloat from "liquid glass" and want to wait for highly probably backlash from millions of iOS users' UX legibility and battery drain complaints to force Apple to make a point release that allows the glass-slop to be turned off.

Does Apple really think Gen Z and Millennials are so simple minded that they really want UX gimmicks instead of more useful & responsible tech?

it can already be turned off for the most part, and I don’t think Apple will be backtracking.
improvements yes, but I think they have made it pretty clear that liquid glass is the design for at least the next decade.
I don’t think rather people are millennials or GenZ affect anything, aesthetic changes were *insanely* frequent back in the day. It’s just the natural progression of things.
Under Jobs the design changed on average every 3 to 4 years, I guess you could call that Boomer/GenX simple mindedness if it helps you sleep better at night…

The accessibility settings changes are triage hacks. Not mindful UX design options giving users options for their UI needs and preferences, not to mention unintended UI changes the accessibility triage includes which creates other unwanted UI changes (e.g. higher contrast, bold text) due to mixed support for accessibility among 3rd party app developers. Skeuomorphism was abandoned after 9 years, and we'll likely see the same with liquid glass for similar reasons but sooner because that's how the Net reaction cycle works, with the added factors around battery brain and CPU use needlessly nudging people to new devices. Class action lawsuit likely around this newer approach to force upgrades, similar to #batterygate and the $500M iPhone Performance Class Action Settlement.

I only have automatic downloads activated and it's set to Developer Updates for Sequoia. I just downgraded lately from Tahoe Beta 4 because even for my Mac mini Pro with 64GB of RAM it was too much. And it's even the upgraded Pro with more cores.
It ran hot while literally doing nothing, even while sleeping. And it also wasted so much screen space for those bloated ugly design elements everywhere.

The downgrade was a relief and Sequoia looks so sleek and beautiful after not seeing it for about two months. I got also through every Developer Beta since WWDC last year. The few small bugs were nothing compared to what Tahoe is now.

I use an Alpha version browser with updates every day that is running better than even a non-beta Safari. In Tahoe just launching Safari was making my fan run at higher speed. It still was silent mostly but felt always hot when touching.

I wonder how slower Macs handle this, especially when they are used on battery power.

I can't believe they will release this Alpha like OS in only 1-2 months.

It literally heated my room in this years cold summer with temperatures mostly around or less than 20 degrees Celsius. The window was wide open most of the day and it always had been warmer inside.

that is a meaningless sentence.
if we’re talking about the extreme spread of realistic elements, the notepad that actually looked like a notepad, the contacts book that looked like a contact book, the gray linen… that was in macOS for two years, from lion to Mavericks.
Mac OS X was redesigned in 2001, 2003, 2007, 2011, 2014, 2020 and 2025.

If that was meaningless, then you don't seem to be familiar with UX design, in the industry, or understand Apple's history with it.

Simply saying“Skeuomorphism” is meaningless.
Skeuomorphism is simply the idea of digital objects reacting like their physical counterpart, and apple has always used it.
When people referred to the heavy use of Skeuomorphism, they are usually only referring to two versions of macOS, Lion and Mountain Lion.
You saying that it existed for nine years is simply ridiculous, it existed for a lot longer and still exists today.
In those nine years you’re referencing, which I’m assuming is 2005 to 2014, we saw plenty of massive OS design changes.
The brushed metal bonanza of 03-06, the spacey grey and reflective dock of Leopard and Snow Leopard, the Corinthian leather, legal paper and green felt of Lion and Mountain Lion.
These were all very distinct.
But even after 2014, Skeuomorphism still existed, because there are still plenty of elements on the Mac attempting to emulate actual physical objects. Just take the save icon, or the trashcan for example.

Is the OS's only for Gen Z and Millennials then?
