Still no fix for the Auto-detect language check spelling bug. :( Apple broke it in Mavericks and never fixed it...

The bug is if Auto-detect language is on, it does only underline in red only half of the errors on a text. If a word that I know if not correctly written but not underlined in red and I right click on it, it does show me all the alternative words, like it it was underlined. If I only select 1 language in the spelling correction, then all the miswritten words are properly underlined. Since I do write texts in 3 languages, I cannot only select one language for the spelling check.

Please fix it!

If you haven't, I'd suggest you report the bug to Apple directly since it's very unlikely their bug list and their priorities come from MacRumors. Note that doing so doesn't mean that it gets fixed any time soon (if ever), as bugs get prioritized and slotted into releases based on resources (people) and severity, but unless it gets reported to them, it doesn't get on their radar.

Thank you for your reactions, i'm by asking just hope :apple: thinks will support sandybridge hd 3000. Well may be in the coming releases or why not next OS X :) just wait & see
The hardware doesn't support it. There's no way for Apple to add it.

I don't think it's capable of supporting 4K.

What preference are you referring to that sets "Auto-detect language"?
Do you mean Textedit?

10.9.3 Build 13D33 fixed the issue where the graphics wouldn't switch across to the Intel HD Graphics 4000 chip on my MacBook Pro.

Always running on the NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M chip meant fast battery drain and a very hot machine.

When does that happen? My graphics card switches just fine...

I mean in Preferences, Keyboard, Text, Spelling - Automatic by language.

This will affect many different apps, including, Safari, Textedit, Pages, and so on...

Like mentioned above, I submitted a report directly to Apple. Thank r.harris1!

That link is only for the public.

These betas are only for developers.

So if you have the beta installed and found a bug assuming you are a developer, you should use apple's bug reporter at this link instead: https://bugreport.apple.com/ to file a proper bug report.

Login with your developer id.

Yeah. I got the sense though that the post was from a non-developer, hence the public site, but you're right, re-reading it, looks like the poster might be using the betas.

10.10 will be out by the time 10.9.3 is released.

10.10 won't be out until later in the fall. The first seed will likely be available on June 2nd, when the keynote demo is done.

I still don't get the concept behind retina. If it has to be always scaled down to lower resolutions, then how does it becomes different from a computer that runs the same resolutions (the resolution that the retina is scaled down to) natively ?

You need to look at the pixel density as the second major factor, not the resolution by itself. It's showing 4 pixels of data in the same area of two pixels on a non-retina display.

Here's what it looks like:

TRts.png

See how sharp the text is on the bottom and how the icon is more detailed. It is because it is showing twice as more details in the same area.

It has to scale down to match the same usable space as the previous screen. If it didn't scale down, it would show the pixels as two smaller pixels, meaning everything will be twice as small than before.

Mail in Mavericks

Sure hope they fix the Mail (not Male) performance issues as Mail really sucks in Mavericks.

Mail is very sketchy, -_- the archived on my mac section I had to move it onto iCloud so it was viewable on iOS again. And then theres the ghost email that I can search and see on iOS, but it doesn't show on OS X.

Question for all.. Ever since 10.9 initial install, audio over FaceTime was broken with horrific feedback making it basically unusable. After a few months of angst, I pulled the developer seed to see if they would eventually address the issue. I have seen multiple audio drivers added with no improvement. Has anyone else seen this with any potential solution?

I'm currently running 10.9.2 13D33 on a 2012 MBP, 16Gb, 1Tb SSD with no third party audio drivers.

With terrible audio.. The irony stings..

I might be experiencing the same problem. I "upgraded" from 10.8.5 to 10.9.2 and have been disappointed. I used to run 60 days between rebooting (until it needed to reboot for a kernel installation, etc.) and now run about 6 days between freezes. Battery life seems about half what it was under 10.8.5, which could be explained if the 650M is running all the time. Is there a way to disable the 650M completely? I have no need for it.

Any word on whether late 2012 iMacs will support 4K displays with this update?

I'm very keen on upgrading my second monitor (old Dell 2407WFP) to a 4K display and running retina on it.

The crazy thing is that the old Dell flat panel uses about twice the energy as the iMac itself! We've come a long way in five years.

Did you do a clean install or an upgrade?

On the subject of the OpenGL not been updated, for me the outdated support has always been a source of annoyance. Is this generally seen as a big issue within the OS X community or is it only seen as a big issue for people that use graphical applications like me?

Till now ASFAIK, OS X 10.9 comes with OpenGL 4.1 fully supported by late 2013 devices but old ones depend on either inbuilt or graphic cards they have. e.g. my iMac mid2010 ATI Radeon HD4670 had only 3.3! :apple:  see below

Anyway i keep hope for next OS X to overhaul OpenGL for all mavericks-supported devices
