Why in the world would I install a beta on a system I cared about? I have work to get done, that work does not include experiencing Apple's software development incompetence *on purpose*.
oh snap, you must have forgotten what it is like to run Windows. Actually I am on the developer betas and have been for years, I am very much impressed with the Apple releases. Maybe I just know what I'm doing, don't use sleazy, sketch web sites, don't use a lot of software with kexts and deprecated crap. Clean installs once a year to clean up all the beta stuff never hurts, and Oh, I have almost no problems, so I guess that must count for something. But if you are simply referring to early releases for a production machine, yah it would be basic incompetence to install an early beta

With 11.5, will Big Sur finally be worth installing?
It has been worth installing since 11.3 (maybe even earlier).

I think that Big Sur has been the best running OS in some time as it developed from 11.1. The blue tooth issue has been trying...but other than that, it has been good. My apps are updated, so I don't have major issues. Yes, when in development until about 11.5 usually, you will have bugs to work out, but Big Sur for me has been a solid OS generally from the beginning with minor bugs/issues.

When I login to public beta Monterey is the only one that are there.
Make sure you install the bigsur profile. My Mac only has 2 PCI’e channels so they don’t allow Monterey, so I don’t get the choice. There are definitely a profile for bigsur and one for Monterey on above

There should be an Advanced section or “other”, sorry. Don’t remember exact wording. You can dismiss the Monterey Upgrade and the so the macOS 11.5 update.

The Big Sur profile will present the Monterey beta Upgrade, too. I’m honestly not sure why they have them as separate downloads..

isn't that a Fujifilm issue not a Bigger issue?
I think it takes both. But there is a growing list almost 2 year long of unsupported RAW formats. There is some suspicion that either Apple no longer have any interest in native RAW support or the price is too high for camera manufacturers

I agree. I never unsterstood people, who upgrade the OS just for the sake of it.

And why would you bother with experimenting, especially if it's a computer you use to make a living, and the failure of that could mean (serious) business damage?

Please see post #13 where I clarified my suggestion.

I always recommend a backup system if you make a living off your computer. As computers do get damaged, lost, stolen or run into bugs.

Having issues with the Music app Matching tracks added to my library. There's the spinning updating iCloud Library progress indicator in the bottom corner, aaaaaaand it just goes and goes and Matches maybe 2-3 tracks out of 30, leaving the others in a "Waiting" status. I'm seeing this same behavior on two MBP's, one from 2015 and another on my M1 MBP. Both reported..

Believe it or not some people have more than 1 partition. Yes folks, it is possible to install a beta os on a different part of your hard drive than the one which holds your mission critical operating system which is only stable due to the generous work and feedback done by the beta testers.

You can do it in a Virtual Machine too. Or an external drive.

I upgrade to macOS 11.5 to test the connection with my Belkin Dock. Seems like things have been sorted!
