Apple today seeded the release candidate version of an upcoming tvOS 14.7 update to developers for testing purposes, with the new beta coming one week after Apple seeded the fifth tvOS 14.7 beta.

Designed for the latest Apple TV models, the tvOS 14.7 developer beta can be downloaded onto the ‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌Apple TV‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌ via a profile that's installed using Xcode.

Other than new releases, tvOS updates are often minor in scale, focusing on under-the-hood bug fixes and improvements rather than major outward-facing changes. There's no word yet on what's included in tvOS 14.7 update, but we'll update this article should anything new be found.

Though we don't often know what's new in tvOS during the beta testing process, we let MacRumors readers know when new updates are available so those who are developers can download it upon release.

Too bad there is so much bad blood between Google and Apple. Google is still making their Youtube app on the ATV 4K 2017 (and possibly the 2021 model?) a lackluster platform for Youtube 4K HDR videos. The Youtube app built into my Sony Bravia and on my Fire TV Cube have no issues at all with 4K HDR videos, but they look like poop on the ATV 4K 2017 with the Youtube app. HDR seems to be a no go, period, on the Youtube app with the ATV 4K 2017. You can tell HDR isn't plying just by looking at the dull video colors, plus you can bring up the nerd stats window and it shows BT.709 (which is for HDTV) and not BT.2020 (which is for UHD 4K). When I view the same videos on my Sony Bravia Android TV or Fire TV Cube Youtube apps they look stunning, but on the ATV 4K 2017 they look like an old HDTV w/o HDR capability. Watching 4K HDR on any other app on my ATV 4K 2017 looks fantastic, so it is just Youtube and the jerks at Google who are messing up...

2021 ATV4K added VP9 hardware decoding, the 2017 ATV4K doesn't support that. It's not the YouTube app. Just differences in supported codecs between A10x and A12 Bionic.

talking about image quality is there any thread where I can find why the hack I can´t play everything (apple series, movies, Disney series, etc) in 4k on the new apple tv?! I have a Bravia 4k, so this shouldn't be an issue.

Not everything streaming is offered in 4K. You need to look at the content info to see if its 4K not HD. I assume you have video out set to match dynamic range and frame rate as enabled. HD content is just HD when it comes out of the ATV4K. Your 4K TV would be upscaling that.

I have a similar issue with one of my purchased movies that was originally 4K Dolby Vision Dolby Atmos and played fine but is now showing up as “HD Dolby Atmos“ and Atmos is non-existent on HD. It may have changed around the time I upgraded to new Apple TV, not sure, but it’s not limited to just the Apple TV, it across all devices. Luckily it’s just one movie.

Might be a server-side issue and will wait for the next OS update to see if it’s fixed. If not then I’ll have to crank up Apple support chat and get it squared away

I have hundreds of movies That I could watch a month or so ago and now the sync is completely off on at least half that i stream through iTunes on my Mac mini to my 4k app tv. if the built in apple "computers" app isn't fixed in this update, what are good options???

Download VLC and it will let you browse and play video from your Minis HD, with a lot more codecs than are natively supported on the Apple TV.

I run a Plex server on my Imac and all my media is on about 8 terrabytes of storage and Plex organizes it all into categories, remembers what I watched last, gets cover art, and they have a client for IOS, Apple TV, Android, Roku, Chrome Cast, Firestick, and ton of other stuff.

I can literally stream wherever I am in the world just fine. Hell, even my LG TVs have Plex clients.

I have a sony bravia XBY49X900F from 2018. It's too old to run the appletv app on the TV so I upgraded from a 5 year old apple tv hd to the new one. My existing HDMI cable didn't have the bandwidth to do the 4k dolby vision stuff so I bought a new Fancy HDMI cable. It makes a difference and the picture quality is amazing.
