if you are not getting RC force restart your device it will show after reboot!

Force restart iPhone

  1. Press and quickly release the volume up button.
  2. Press and quickly release the volume down button.
  3. Press and hold the side button.
  4. When the Apple logo appears, release the side button.
worked for me on the one device that was not showing it....

Does the RC usually have all the data logging and telemetry of the beta builds or are they totally “clean” like the eventual final release?
If no issues pop up, this will most likely be what everyone gets.

How do I tell if it's Beta 8 or RC?! Hmmm....

How do they get the final version onto all the iPhones that have already been produced and boxed up?

In RC:

14 owners (14 pro max in this case) can now re-focus portrait mode photos after the fact. This also applies to every portrait photo ever taken in photos app, just edit and refocus

You can select HEIF 48 Mpix as an option in native camera app

What you don’t get:

- next gen portrait meaning it’s not automatic with people/pets or if you manually focus. You have to put it in portrait mode first. It’s automatic on iPhone 15 including portrait Live Photos too

- 24 mpix new high res standard photos - still 12 mpix unless you manually select HEIF high

If anyone is having the issue of their network icons not displaying after upgrading try restarting their phone. Seems to have worked for me. On my Home Screen the icons weren't appearing (see below). Restart seems to have fixed it.

So it seems that iOS 16.7 is only for 2017 iPhone releases and iOS 16.6.1/iOS 17.0 for 2018 iPhone releases and newer

2015 iPhone releases and newer went from iOS 12.4.1 then straight to iOS 13.0, skipping iOS 12.4.2 and newer
iOS 14.8.1 was released but only for those who are on iOS 14.5 to iOS 14.8
2017 iPhone releases and newer went from iOS 15.6.1 then straight to iOS 16.0, skipping iOS 15.7 and newer

FYI, just updated to RC on 14 Pro and crashed the phone when I entered my passphrase. Now it is attempting data recovery. Just a good reminder that even RC's can still be buggy and ruin your day!
Did you perform OTA update or through IPSW via Finder/iTunes?

OK so I installed 16 last year and had deep regrets. But this year I said screw it and jumped on the 17 RC.

The Release Candidate for 17 runs better than 16.1 did last year. The autocorrect so far actually does live up to the hype. Kind of shocked how good this release in general is compared to recent ones.

The Watch update does feel a bit beta still though. They need to allow another row of complication widgets.
