That’s the problem. If you run the public beta on your primary device you need to be an annual new device adopter. If you keep your phone 2-3 years you will kill the long term health of your battery running betas.
He said battery life, not battery health.
If a beta is impacting your battery health, then it is probably overheating and you should revert to a stable build.
If you have no overheating issue, then don't worry about it. You are going to get worse battery life because the code is not optimized yet, so you might need to charge earlier than expected. But that doesn't mean your battery health will be impacted.

Very small update

Previous build had a "f" designation at the end and this one has an "i" so it's likely just fixing a few things they identified that I guess couldn't wait till DB4 or the first Public Beta.
A build ending in "i" just means it was recompiled 9 times that day. For a beta release, IMO, it's probably better to see that last letter be higher as it means they've recompiled it due to some other issue. With an "a" built, there's a chance something could have been missed because they rely on Time Frames not Build Quality for releases.

Anytime your battery life is affected and you use juice up faster than you should, you are going to run hotter. Betas adversely affect battery health. It’s not an if.

This FUD doesn't even make sense. Do you mean to say that he will charge more often and therefore use up more cycles of the battery? But that has nothing to do with excess heat. The good news is that his 15 Pro Max is good for double the number of cycles of the previous batteries, so stop trying to discourage people from running a beta or telling them they need a new phone every year.

So far beta 3 had been Much more unstable for me than beta 2. Hopefully this fixes it a bit. Battery life specially.
Other than the icon fix, beta 3 has been a bit more problematic for me than 2 as well. Video playback, especially in things like the YouTube app will cause my phone to heat up extraordinarily (clearly hard CPU usage) which, of course, drains battery like crazy.

A week in I still have the “background update happening” so my battery has been weak

Scrolling is def smoother in safari on iPhone 15 pro max. Swiping between pages seems smoother or newer animation. Definitely different than the other beta 3. Swiping for control center is smoother now, too. Haven’t noticed anything else improved/changed yet.

My 15P has been getting pretty hot lately. I still can't tell what to blame, the wonderful heat wave or the beta. Just throw it in the freezer when I get home, totally fine for the battery lol

Anyone else having issues with automations? I have one tied to a focus mode and it does not work. (Since B3)

Ever since this rerelease, I’ve been having an issue where I’ll be typing out an iMessage but then the send button will turn from blue to green or I’ll go to an iMessage contact and will automatically switch to SMS. This is all happening while I have an active data connection and happens both on Wi-Fi and cellular. The current workaround is to either go to a different iMessage contact then back to the original (works sometimes) or fully quit messages then wait up to 10 seconds before reopening (usually works). Rebooting my iPhone as well as resetting my network settings does not resolve the issue. This was not an issue with any of the previous betas. It has been reported to Apple but has not been acknowledged by them.
