I wish Apple would do something that I could be excited about, this is so meh.

You do realize that these iterations of IOS 12 are primarily to squash bugs and bring compatibility with the new TV products?

The time to get excited will be in June when they announce iOS 13. Of course, this forum will be filled with the naysayers, "Not enough", "Dark mode is not dark enough" and so on....

Good point.

But - excited or filled with trepidation?

They will work with the TV app too.
But, to clarify, Apple will not host THOSE streams. They will only host streams using Apple TV Channels. The key benefit of Channels is that Apple will maintain their own streams for those channels (which will undeniably be more reliable).

As long as the TV App will redirect to the proper app and list its media contents, I'm good.

No, Netflix won't participate.

Apple should have tried to resolve the payment disagreement better, Netflix is right not to want to pay a 15-30% cut. Not having Netflix really destroys the value of Apple's aggregation idea.

Edit: Further reading on this thread leads me to believe Apple only allows their app to support accounts that are paid for through their system, so I don't think Netflix is really in the wrong here.

It sort of does. Although Netflix doesn’t advertise that it works in the tv app. What i have noticed is random movies and shows that pop up in the tv app. And when you click on it to view it. It opens up Netflix to watch. For example. I clicked on Walking Dead. And even though i had AMC and Netflix installed and the credentials loaded for both. It opened it up in Netflix for me.

So there is nothing new for people who live outside the US or don‘t want to pay for even MORE subscriptions?

Cool Apple...
There are miscellaneous bug fixes and minor changes, just like every point release. If you want great new features that’s what the annual wwdc will bring us.

I was not aware of that, or I haven't seen it myself. Thanks for the heads up.

I don't think they are in the wrong, money is money, so I get it. They could still do right by their customers though and support the feature while not allowing sign ups from tvOS or iOS apps.

Have they fixed the iOS 12.2 Airplay bugs in the lock screen/notification centre? If I switch to controlling the Apple TV, then later switch back to playing music on my phone, the Airplay controls break, and it either thinks nothing is playing, or it shows the song I was playing hours ago.
