Apple today seeded the second beta of an upcoming macOS Monterey 12.4 update to developers for testing purposes, with the new update coming two weeks after the release of the first macOS Monterey 12.4 beta.

Registered developers can download the beta through the Apple Developer Center and after the appropriate profile is installed, betas will be available through the Software Update mechanism in System Preferences.

According to Apple's release notes, Universal Control in the new iPadOS 15.5 and macOS Monterey 12.4 updates is not compatible with machines running macOS 12.3 or iPadOS 15.4, so Apple suggests that as a workaround, users should update their Universal Control devices to the new betas.

We don't yet know if there are any other features in macOS Monterey 12.4, and nothing new was discovered in the first beta.

Another release candidate version of macOS Big Sur 11.6.6 has also been seeded.

Let's hope they can fix that FireWire video capture bug as discussed here...

Good, hopefully this fixes the panics I am getting. Was getting them multiple times a day, both in general use (email/web) and when left idle. Little Snitch released an update and took care of most of them, but they stopped entirely when I turned it off.

That ain't coming..

I've sorta been convinced from other comments, more or less "theres no way apple pushed out this monitor without knowing the quality of webcam recording and that this firmware bug, just snuck up on them."
I'm afraid you're right. But I hope Apple can do at least a little bit to improve it. Colleagues asked what had happened to my 'webcam' when I showed up using my new display.. It's worse than the camera from my iMac (2014) ?

Still waiting for the memory leaks to be fixed on M1 MacBook Pro.

MacOS Vista is really a POS.
You need to backup your OS environment to a external volume, then wipe and do a clean MacOS install. Later use Migration Assistant to restore your OS environment onto the fresh MacOS install. You been complaining about this since 12.2. You can go further and go to a store and have them do a DFU restore to 12.3.1, which is a total wipe/redo of everything, then restore OS environment, then update to the beta if you want. Call and setup a appointment.

1. This issue didn't exist in 12.2 for me, so no I haven't been complaining since then, you made that up.
2. The issue is on Apple's side, not mine, they need to fix their buggy software and correct the memory leaks.

see #1
If that is unrelated to the existing 12.4 beta instance, my bad. But you have multiple posts mentioning it. Sometimes you need to start clean, and its why I recommended a DFU restore to reset system FW also.

It’s the identical camera and CPU from the iPhone 11.
It’s been confirmed by several people who *don’t* work for Apple that it is clearly a software issue.
Given that there’s only been one update, and it was the update that was already installed on all of the review units, let’s just give it time.

Here's hoping this version fully realizes what the U in USB stands for. I miss "just works."

And while they are at it, how about supporting the full speeds of the jacks too?

I'm hoping for a Snow Monterey year announcement at WWDC... maybe even 2 years of Snow if they need it.

Yup this defiantly needs fixing, unless Apple haven’t been complete honest with the port speeds. Can anyone confirm?
