On an hour and a half long Ripple Training Q&A session recently (FCP knowledgeable/go-to people for those that might not know) they alluded to this issue, and it was mention as “ah yeah, Apple seems to have gotten rid from anything FireWire and DV related drivers”. Might not come back ever, at least not embedded first party style potentially.Let's hope they can fix that FireWire video capture bug as discussed here...

DV capture bug on 12.3 (.1)?
I recently did some experimentation with my Canon Optura 60 and HV40 DV camcorders. Somehow, with one of the recent versions of Mac OS 12 Monterey, I believe version 12.3, some kind of bug was developed that prevents video capture software from detecting IEEE-1394/FireWire video cameras! I would...forums.macrumors.com
Incredible, search kinda blocks you while typing and focus on something else mid way. Hate it. Can’t be left open too long, it will crash or hang or leak at some point.Pray for major fixes in Apple Music. Search is buggy as hell & other parts of it are too.
And what’s up with the folders when adding to a playlist? Sometimes they are collapsed and sometime all of them are expanded.
Still waiting for the Studio Display firmware update that will fix the terrible camera..
Crossing fingers, it would be really really sad if I ended up just using the iMac’s 1080p one, that one was quite acceptable… but kinda dig the Center Stabe, can move around while talking and it follows, I’m more relaxed. Potato quality looking relaxed that is.That ain't coming..
I've sorta been convinced from other comments, more or less "theres no way apple pushed out this monitor without knowing the quality of webcam recording and that this firmware bug, just snuck up on them."
This, you have no idea, gives so much hope… because I too, at some point, could believe that something went ballistic manufacturing wise. And they would try to hide it.It’s the identical camera and CPU from the iPhone 11.
It’s been confirmed by several people who *don’t* work for Apple that it is clearly a software issue.
Given that there’s only been one update, and it was the update that was already installed on all of the review units, let’s just give it time.![]()

Let me add one to the list, I didn’t realize until yesterday. What the actual heck is going on with the M1 (Pro in my case) trackpad? I can’t drag and drop consistently and reliably… moving files on finder with one hand, two hands, etc is ultra hard and hit or miss.
This is what I hate about these releases, thousands of engineers just didn’t drag and drop crap… really.
