Apple today seeded the second betas of upcoming iOS 15.1 and iPadOS 15.1 betas to developers for testing purposes, one week after seeding the first betas and just over a week after releasing iOS 15 and iPadOS 15 to the public.

iOS and iPadOS 15.1 can be downloaded through the Apple Developer Center or over the air after the proper profile has been installed on an iPhone or iPad.

SharePlay makes a return in iOS 15.1, with Apple once again testing the feature that was removed before the launch of iOS 15. SharePlay is designed to let users call their friends and family and interact by watching movies, watching TV, or listening to music together.

Apple has added features like shared playlists and TV show syncing so everyone sees the same thing at the same time. SharePlay also has a built-in screen sharing feature, and Apple is still working out the bugs.

Paired with the HomePod 15.1 beta (which is invite only), iOS 15.1 adds Lossless Audio and Dolby Atmos with Spatial Audio support to the HomePod and the HomePod mini, bringing Apple's speakers in line with iPhones, iPads, and Macs.

iPhone users who have a health care provider or state record that uses SMART Health Cards can import their COVID-19 vaccination records into the Health app and can then add a vaccine card to the Wallet app. This is an opt-in feature that uses a global specification, but healthcare providers need to implement it.

Right now, Smart Health Cards are or will be available to those in California, Louisiana, New York, Virginia, Hawaii, and some Maryland counties, as well those who were vaccinated at Walmart, Sam's Club, and CVS Health. Healthcare providers like electronic health record vendors like Epic and Cerner also support Smart Health Cards.

There were no other features of note that were found in the first iOS 15.1 beta, but we'll update this article should new features be found in the second beta.

Smart Health Cards support can't come soon enough. I live in California and many businesses accept and require Smart Health Cards, such as sporting events, concerts, and museums. I suspect amusement parks will be next.

Health app in iOS 15.0 does import Smart Health Cards, but does not show all important QR code for authentication. And finding the record requires multiple clicks.

Carrying a physical card or shuffling through Photos or Files app to find the QR code screenshot are not an ideal experience.

Such a small thing but I really, really hope that they take note of what a lot of people are saying and fix the iPhone 13 Pro and especially the 13 Pro Max status bar.
The time and battery icons are just absolutely gargantuan, even in standard view.
Either shrink them or add battery percentage, it’s not that hard

Hope this fixed the bug i encountered when i tried to reset my icloud password - wouldn’t send a prompt to my phone on 15.1 / sent fine to my ipad on stock 15

Can anyone comment on if this beta fixes the Apple Watch / iPhone 13 issue?
I had this issue on my iPhone 12 Pro (out of box install), and now on my iPhone 13 pro max (out of box install).. to solve it I had to erase watch and phone and setup as new (no cloud restore) ... issue was solved.. of course not how it should work.

I'm downloading to my 15 pro max right now (as well as working on updating my watch too). Once both are updated, I'll test to see if the watch unlock issue (although I'm sure someone will beat me to the update and update first).

15 pro max wow!
LOL. I'd go back and edit, but now that I mistyped it, I'd prefer to think I magically have a 15 pro max early. You won't believe the camera on it! It's improved from the 14 pro max and the 13 pro max - it lets in more light and zooms even further.

It also gets me 2 hours longer battery life than the 14 pro max, bringing it to 4 hours more than the 13 pro max.

If the article that was on MacRumors earlier(cameras and chip are determined 3 years in advance)… the cameras are already somewhere in apple hq waiting for at least a year for iphone 15 to hit mass production 😂
