Apple Seeds Second iOS 18.4 and iPadOS 18.4 Betas With Priority Notifications, Ambient Music and More

Apple today seeded the second betas of upcoming iOS 18.4 and iPadOS 18.4 updates to developers for testing purposes, with the software coming two weeks after Apple released the first betas.

iOS 18.4 and iPadOS 18.4 can be downloaded from the Settings app on a compatible device by going to General > Software Update.

With iOS 18.4, Apple is adding the Priority Notifications Apple Intelligence feature, which is designed to determine which of your notifications are the most important, highlighting them in an easy-to-see dedicated section on the Lock Screen.

The update includes a new Apple News+ Food section for Apple News+ subscribers, plus it adds the Sketch style to Image Playground so you can generate images that look hand drawn. Apple Intelligence is also available in more languages, including French, German, Italian, Portuguese (Brazil), Spanish, Japanese, Korean, and Chinese (simplified), along with localized English for Singapore and India.

A future update is set to bring a dedicated Vision Pro app that will accompany the headset, allowing users to find and download content, manage the headset, control guest experiences, and more.

Mail Categorization has expanded to the iPad, and there's a new Ambient Music feature for playing relaxing music from Control Center. There are a number of other smaller features too, with details available in our iOS 18.4 features guide.

Apple plans to release iOS 18.4 and iPadOS 18.4 in early April.

Beta 1 is working tremendously for me. I’ll read the comments and see when I install. Probably tonight after reading comments while watching the fallout at Elimination Chamber.

Yeah beta 1 is currently working well for me for some reason as my iPhone kept freezing on the official build so hopefully beta 2 still continues to work well

Same for me :(
Apple AI option is still there in the options and the additional models for AI have been re-downloaded. Hope it just takes a while for processing and then working again.
Image playground is also there and working.
Genmoji and the new Siri animation not working currently.

Notifications weren't working correctly for me on Beta 1, working correctly on Beta 2
 
I'm having an issue and I can't use the network in Safari or Applications.
This is happening in my iPhone and iPad.

Anyone is having this issue?

I have restarted even disabled the iCloud Relay and nothing works.

Have you tried resetting network settings?

Same issue here...
 
For all having issues with Apple Intelligence: when attenpting to activate Visual Intelligence it says after downloadijg it‘s available. So I‘ll check back tomorrow morning. The writing tools are also still here…
 
Apple Intelligence is gone on iOS/iPadOS 18.4 Beta 2, at least for Germany. We're on the old Version of Siri with the bubble again! X is exploding with this topic.
And macOS 15.4 Beta 2 seems to have changed something in the WiFi stack, so VPN's like Mullvad VPN are broken (while still working on iOS/iPadOS 18.4 Beta 2).
Careful, if you want to upgrade and didn't do so yet!
Not sure if other Apple AI features are still working, but it took me one hour to unbrick my MacBook.

Check Apple Intelligence settings if it is not re-downloading / updating it again.
