Apple today seeded the second release candidate version of iOS 26.2 to developers and public beta testers, with the software coming one week after Apple seeded the first RC. The release candidate represents the final version iOS 26.2 that will be provided to the public if no further bugs are found.

Registered developers and public beta testers can download the betas from the Settings app on the iPhone by going to the General section and selecting Software Update.

iOS 26.2 has a Liquid Glass slider on the Lock Screen to adjust the transparency of the clock, plus it brings AirPods Live Translation to the European Union. The Reminders app now supports alarms for when tasks are due, and there are updates to the Podcasts and Apple News apps. Menu animations have been revamped, and CarPlay supports disabling pinned messages in the Messages app.

We have a full list of all the features available in iOS 26.2 in our guide.

iOS 26.2 will likely see a launch later this week.

I don’t know why but I had a feeling there might be a second RC. Probably because there was one less beta than usual.

I think it's coming out tomorrow.

While they're updating CarPlay, I wish they would bring back the widget that popped up for my garage door when I pull into my neighborhood. It was nice to be able to quickly tap it because my garage door remote range kinda sucks and since it's a big double door I have to wait a bit. Now I have to have a widget for it on another screen, so I have to (while driving) swipe over to the widgets, and then swipe through the widgets until I find the HomeKit square, and then ID the garage door button (while driving), and tap the now much smaller tap target (WHILE DRIVING). I mean, I've considered going back to my old remote and I do sometimes if I'm not in a hurry, but THIS FRIGGIN WORKED BEFORE APPLE. I don't understand why they're destroying elegant solutions?

“Hey Siri, open the main garage door.”
