Where was that pop-up? Part of Apple Maps? Or the garage Door Opener manufacturer?
It's a feature of CarPlay. If you have a Garage door configured in HomeKit, when you get within about a quarter of a mile of your home, and you have Carplay in that splitscreen mode, it will change the bottom right tile in a icon you can click to open/close your Garage door (and it shows the status of the garage door as well).

If you have 2 garage doors and used Siri to open the other garage door recently, it will often get confused and suggest the wrong one, which is annoying.

For the original post, he was saying it stopped showing that suggestion at all for him.

That still works on mine. I just wish I could configure that. I have 2 garage doors, and it's a random guess as to which one shows up with that suggested feature. I have it setup on the widget for when it guesses wrong, but I do really like the feature. I wonder why yours isn't?
yes, works perfectly on mine as well. OP must be dealing with operator error.

RE: Which door- simply touch the Garage door that appears on the far right side and scroll up or down...it will cycle thru all the garage doors you have in Homekit. Then once the correct door is selected touch in the middle to open/close it

please please tell me apple has that standby/nightstand mode fixed. it's been so finicky on when or if it turns on. it has to be a software bug since it was happening on my last phone too with ios 26.

well i also have the missing garage door control on the split screen. i don't think this is operator error, it seems to have disappeared with 26.2. or are they expecting you to make a widget for this now? kind of sucks, it was very convenient.

How odd. I wonder why it shows for some and not others. It still pops up for me every time I get close to my house.

i wonder if this is some kind of location services bug? maybe i should try toggling some of my location settings.

That would make complete sense! If you someone follows those stupid posts about saving battery by turning off most location services, that may prevent this feature from working. (which your phone grabs locations constantly regardless of which services are turn off or turned on, all you do is prevent those services from having access to the data it already has).

well i do have a bunch of that stuff turned off in a futile attempt at privacy. but most of the apple location stuff is turned on.

anyway i did toggle the location service for Home.app and a couple more in the system settings that seemed like they might be related and the garage door control started working again. so i think it was some kind of location service issue related to the 26.2 upgrade.

Oh it does potentially increase privacy. Just not battery (which is how most of those articles advertise it). That said, that's really good you figured it out. I wish some of those toggles explained more about what is impacted by changing them. Glad you got it though. 🙂
